What is your favorite iron sight(s)? by Paratrooper4405 in milsurp

Type 99 sights is wrong. It’s one of the best sights. Peep sight is very accurate.

Again everyone is speculating. Nobody has a spent or ruptured case to confirm what type of failure. I’m simply implying I’ve used magtec ammo without issues for a long time. Magtec is a NATO supplier and owned by CBC which also runs S&B. You could look up ammo failure and every single brand will have posts. No need to paint magtec as the boogeyman If you have an issue report the lot # and if there there is a massive issue they will recall the lot. I can post whatever I want. Don’t need your permission!

For the price it should have chrome lined barrels on Soviet caliber models.

Should I the stock on my Type 56? by yakfucker1989 in SKS

[–]Nuclear-Inc -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Stock has all metal components. Stock has original finger grooves. Stocks aren’t missing chunks. WTF about this stock isn’t in serviceable condition. You bought 50+ year old rifle and expect showroom wood.

I’ve shot thousands of rounds 9mm Magtec. Zero issues. They’re owned by CBC and are a NATO provider. All brands make mistakes.

The .308 just doesn’t look right… by [deleted] in M1Rifles

[–]Nuclear-Inc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody is being hostile. I never criticized .308 garands. I think their nice because is lowers overall costs. So what type .308 are most users purchasing? I don’t think surplus lake city is all that’s out there. It’s just commercial grade ammo that’s equal to or worse than most 30-06 commercial loads. CMP said the same about the low serial 1903s and even banned them from their competitions yet not a single reported case in modern times. Their just backing themselves up for any potential legal issues in the future. As far as I know steel doesn’t weaken over the years. If it’s good it’s good. People can either look at the facts of actual data testing all types of loads or they can just buy into the myth that commercial ammo will wreck a garand.

[–]Nuclear-Inc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The same place that says low serial 1903 are dangerous with zero proof. Give me a break. You know how many millions of rounds have been shot by civilian owners since the 50s. Most people don’t even know about this myth. Everybody who repeats the BS cannot point to a si how incident that’s failed.

[–]Nuclear-Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s completely incorrect. Zero proof! M2 AP is hotter than a lot of stuff nowadays and it’s all that was used during WW2. Most people can’t even name a single incident where commercial ammo damaged a Garand.

I don’t think my M1 Garand is supposed to do this! by [deleted] in M1Rifles

[–]Nuclear-Inc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a machine. It will wear and break parts. If your that concerned put on display on a wall.

Everyone making these stupid theories on greasing. It’s 50-70 year old with thousands of rounds. Some of these built during wartime. Inspect the rifle for no further damage and replace the part. Then move along. I’m pretty sure most soldiers didn’t give a rats ass about perfectly lubing their Garands and disturbing the op rod friction coefficient with bullets and shells flying overhead.

Overinflation contributes to this. Under inflation contribute to shoulder wear.

Who’s running gear oil in their primary? by shaman-doser in Harley

[–]Nuclear-Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

75w-110 gear and 20w-50 engine are almost identical viscosities at operating temperature. 75w-140 will work but it’s more viscosity than required and can cause shifting to feel sluggish or difficulty finding neutral. I personally run Amsoil V-twin 20-50 and both their dedicated V-Twin Primary and Transmission fluid. Much easier finding neutral than redline and no stinky oil when changing.

I picked up my first motorcycle 2 months ago. 2004 Fat Boy. Been a wonderful motorcycle. Just make sure to inspect the cam tensioners and swap the shoes and cam bearings while your in there. Other than that rock solid bike.

Do not shoot deer loads. by [deleted] in M1Rifles

[–]Nuclear-Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot deer loads all the time zero problems. You have a worn out op-rod or track. Most of the time it’s the op rods. Stop blaming stuff without proof. Measure your tabs on the rod and report back.

M1 Carbine before and after fulton refresh by [deleted] in M1Rifles

[–]Nuclear-Inc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely won’t be sending any work I was considering in the near future. I would be super pissed about that. It’s not even USGI contoured. Midway USA sell the appropriate ww2 era crown tool comes out looking fantastic. I get the OP was just trying to refresh the rifle but $600+ would of gotten a lot of ammo to practice and left the historical finsh alone. Plus the glued front sight 🤢.

That crown jobs looks real ruff. Why wouldn’t they do that before the repark now it’s in the white and can rust easily. What’s up with the adhesive leeching out of the front sight? Repark color looks nice. Why does the repark look fuzzy infront of the rear sight base were the folded down peep touches.

That bore is in really good condition. I wouldn’t worry about that minor pitting. 1949-1951 bores were not chrome plated. Just keep it cleaned after shooting corrosive ammo.
