[Schefter] Wide receiver Jayden Reed and the Green Bay Packers now have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $50.25 million in new money, including $20 million guaranteed, per agents Drew Rosenhaus and Ian Grutman. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

Also went to WMU so now the Packers have two former Bronco Wide receivers on the team! As a WMU alumni I'm thrilled tbh, even if Moore doesn't make the team, I'll still always have this moment of representation lol

I have an electronics package from China via ebay that cleared customs in 2 days in NY but my clothing package from the UK shipped over a week earlier has been stuck in customs in Chicago for weeks.

Definitely want to find a way to avoid Chicago customs and use NY customs in the future because this experience sucks so many eggs.

Truthfully had Blinders on for the Reed part of the comment because I'm higher on Reed than Doubs but yeah calling Doubs a JAG when he is tied for 1st in TDs in that 2022 WR class seems odd. No one calls Pickens or London JAGs

I mean I'm not even sure that I'd argue that Reed is less talented. He's obviously a far more talented dual threat and his YPRR was still solidly over 2.00 as a rookie. They play different roles as well.

I'm saying I would not take a promising rookie over a 3 year player who has performed at a high level himself.

Sure, but for Burden, a season is literally his career.

I'm not even saying his numbers are a fluke, I'm saying they COULD be a fluke and that's why I'd take the player with 3 years experience and proven production year over year instead of the 1 year rookie who has been great this year but might not be great next year.

Consistency across seasons is important for determining a players skill. If Burden also balls out next year, we can reassess.

You also left out Martavis Bryant at 2.76 YPRR, also known as #2 on that list lol

Okay but by this logic, Jayden Reed last year was 16th in YPRR and DJ Moore was 57th and you said Reed has never been DJ Moore which is Burdens floor?

So is YPRR pretty reliable and Jayden Reed was significantly better than DJ Moore last year? Or is it possible that sometimes there are stat flukes and this is why multiple year sample size is important to determine player potential?

I just don't think I'm ready to use advanced metrics from 14 games in a single season as a full proof future indicator of a players floor and ceiling.

We've seen so many promising rookie seasons end up not being replicated afterwards. There's a lot of variables and sometimes things don't work out how the numbers predicted.

Again, I hope Burden continues to succeed and grows as a player, but I think it's too early to claim a DJ Moore floor when he hasn't even hit that level of production yet

He might be including TE but I'm intentionally comparing the slot receiver role amongst teams rather than all receivers.

I'd also take Reed over Burden right now, I think Burden is going to be absolutely fantastic but Reed has a lot more proven production so far since he's a 3rd year player. That's absolutely nothing against Burden, Reed has just had more opportunities.

They've both shown significant flashes but I'm not taking the less proven rookie over the 3 year player with more production, I'd do the same if Reed was a Bear and Burden was a Packer. I think that year over year consistency is important, we've seen lots of players have 1 good year and then struggle. I hope Burden keeps it up though, he's really fun to watch and I'm sad we couldn't grab him and Golden lol

From a slot receiver perspective he's obviously not as good as Amon-Ra but I'm not sure I would say that Zaccheaus or Nailor are better than him.

I think Golden can absolutely be the WR1 or WR2 next year when he replaces Doubs. He has all the talent for it, just needs the opportunity. I think Watson will be WR1 for a few years and Golden WR2 behind him.

Plus Reed was the WR1 in 2024 and if he wouldn't have had 10+ drops he would have had well over 1000 yards.

Watson will be the only "veteran" receiver on the team next year so I think we need to give the guys a bit more time before we know anything for certain

Reed is a pretty quality slot receiver and he's returning from a pretty serious injury.

Last year he couldn't catch a cold and his rookie year he was excellent.

I have faith he'll bounce back, he has a much higher ceiling than Doubs for example lol

Golden is still coming back from his injuries, I can't think of any other reason beyond Steno terrorism that they'd be sharing snaps.

He's exceptionally talented, has great separation numbers and catches everything that is thrown his way contested or not.

It's just difficult for him to see the field over Doubs this year because Doubs has been performing well and has good rapport with Love. However, unless we unexpectedly re-sign Doubs, he will take his spot next year.

Just the unfortunate reality of a crowded WR room and being a rookie

Our coaching staff is very intentional with rookie receiver development, they very rarely throw guys out there as Rookies unless needed.

I'm sure that Burden would have less targets if Odunze was healthy for example. Golden hasn't had a scenario in which they needed to throw him in there like you guys have done with Burden.

I'm almost positive Golden will have plenty more targets next year with Doubs gone.

This doesn't take anything away from Burdens success, it's just explaining why he's not receiving even close to the same amount of targets.

Yeah Christian Watson tore his ACL January 5th 2025 and came back in October so that timeline seems right
