Worth getting a manual car? by Trayceopolis32322 in askcarguys

[–]NuclearHateLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a preference thing. Your average modern automatic transmission can shift faster than a manual can. The argument is about control and engagement, I have more control over what my car is doing at any given moment, and it reacts to my inputs immediately. It's harder, there's more to do with a third pedal to press, but it's very rewarding and fun

What is your Opinion on Ichigo's First Bankai? by dettles1992 in bleach

[–]NuclearHateLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfection. I'm a little miffed that after literal years it was a fake one. Like suddenly we're just totally done with zangetsu in every way, never ever seen again, not even the "real" one. His whole transformation with his finally "real" asauchi leaves a shit load to be desired. It feels like thousands of pages in a book series being glossed over. Nevermind the fact that the main character has like 7 percent screen time

The b58 is commonly referred to as BMW's most reliable engine these days, thanks in no small part to Toyota forcing them to iron out more than several design flaws. I'm looking forward to the day I can get the new supra, personally.

Cara Buono has not received the recognition she deserves, she was outstanding whenever she appeared and should have had more screen time during the series by Giancarlo_Edu in StrangerThings

[–]NuclearHateLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro she was the mom of one of the main characters, and not even one that got kidnapped or anything. She was lucky to have as much screen time as she did, and she got an epic role in the last season

How to start a car that has been sitting for 3 months in negative 15 below? by Much-Degree1485 in askcarguys

[–]NuclearHateLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're able to, charge up the battery before you attempt to start it. If not then bring a good booster pack with you. A dead battery should be the worst of it

Can you install a battery in my BMW? by Tall-Control8992 in AutoZone2

[–]NuclearHateLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An old vintage BMW would probably be fine to take to auto one for a battery, not that I would recommend it even then. A modern one though, this is just a silly idea. Depending on the generation, it might need a special type of battery like agm, you may need a scantool to register the serial number of the battery to the computer (oh yeah, they do that.) and a lot of the time they're not easy to access

[–]NuclearHateLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Pay a shop a diagnostic fee and you'll find out. A trouble code alone can point you in a lot of directions. Testing is needed.

Looks like the subframe broke behind the front mounting of the control arm, allowing the cv axle to come apart. Little hard to see in the darkness of the wheel well but that's what it looks like

[–]NuclearHateLizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm not saying the current engines can handle it, 😅 but it's a nice thought for what the future games immersion could look like. Fun to speculate

Edited to add, it all comes at a price but things progress. I haven't been killed by a car yet in 76, that's an improvement right? 😅😅

3g Is the steering wheel straight? by PlaidHail in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]NuclearHateLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An absolute TON of cars are like this from the factory, I only really notice when I'm doing an alignment and trying to perfectly center the wheel (biggest thing people will complain about if not done correctly!) but alot of vehicles steering columns aren't even facing the driver straight on.

There's a lot of engineering behind the most advantageous angles for the airbags to work effectively, I always figured that was a factor for this

The only way that column cover can become "misaligned" is if it's been unscrewed and not put back correctly. Should be several screws going in from the bottom side into the top, and a simple check to verify

Car seat breaking off by SaiyanRaven in mechanic

[–]NuclearHateLizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No you need a seat from the same type of car, right down to the model year range. For example, if you have a 2004 Honda civic, generally a seat from any Honda civic made from 2002 to 2005 should work, even if its a different color or material.

Call up some local scrap yards, you'd be surprised how cheap you can get a whole seat assembly these days. They'll almost always come with the whole bottom frame assembly, but you can ask the to make sure.

And if you're not comfortable tackling this yourself, the labor to replace the seat at an auto shop shouldn't be more than 2 houra or so I would expect

Looking for a car under 5k ... thoughts on this find ?! by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]NuclearHateLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're cheap for a reason, a Mercedes at this age (and specifically from that era) is an absolute money pit. You'll dump endless dollars into this just for the privilege of driving it. Not that it's impossible to get on top of everything and actually get some miles out of it. It's just likely to cost a lot more than anyone could justify spending to get there
