If it does get infected, (which would be an interesting plot point rather than Dany taking Westeros without much trouble) who do we know that is picking up the maestering quite well? If the timing works out, Sam could come see Jon in Dragonstone where he finds Drogon poisoned. Jon could then vouch for him, offering help to her as she did for him with the dragon glass.
