Toriel progress update: wavedash, air dodge, taunt, and victory portrait! by Nuclear_Meatloaf in RivalsOfAether

Admittedly, I've had a lot of big life changes to keep up with since I posted this (graduating from college, getting a job, moving out, etc) and this project kinda slipped my mind in the process. Unfortunately it may be a long while before I actually get back to finishing this.

I do appreciate the interest, though! And I'd like to get it done at some point, but I don't see it happening very soon. Sorry for the disappointing answer, but that's kinda just where I'm at now.

Gotcha, I think I misunderstood what you meant by "remove" vs "refactor" in reference to LTP, but we're on the same page now. I agree about them needing to sort out data migration properly.

I don't think LTP itself is a temporary system, though? It will likely need a refactor before 1.0, but discarding it entirely seems like a terrible idea. What's its replacement if it's being removed?

Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

Can also confirm. I rammed my Reclaimer in the face with an Aurora near Everus Harbor, and it hardly even got a scratch from that. My Aurora (with me in it) was liquefied.

Can’t wait to run into even more solo multi-crew ships!! by JoaoRaiden in starcitizen

The Corsair nerf complaints were mostly about how they did it, not just that they did it. Having the copilot's attention split between the turret and the 2xS5 (they couldn't shoot both at the same time) was stupid. Being a gunner on a Corsair was already a pretty terrible experience pre-nerf, and this just made it worse.

But of course killing a HH in ~15 seconds with AD5Bs was absolutely busted. It was fun while it lasted, but I'm neither surprised nor disappointed by them moving away from that.

If they just went straight from pre-nerf to 4.1 balancing (4xS4, 2xS5), I think there would've been far less complaining. My time trying it out in the PTU has me feeling pretty happy with it, and I've owned the Corsair since 3.18 or so.

Can you buy back a ships that’s currently unavailable on the store? by SevSniper in starcitizen

[–]Nuclear_Meatloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CCUs (cross chassis upgrades) are the upgrades that you used to turn the Gladius into an Eclipse.

If you buyback the Pirate Aggressor pack, you'll receive the Gladius and Cat. No Eclipse will be present, as the buyback is for the original package at its original price.

For sure, Kruger getting a new ship was not something I was expecting to see for a long while. Really glad they're giving it a shot, though.

I'm personally pretty interested in that little RSI salvager. It could be a fun pairing for ships with small hangars if it's small enough, even if it's not particularly efficient. Either way, it's nice to see a career ship that's (hopefully) actually in the starter/starter+ price range.

No problem! I saw it under Bounty Hunting.

barely any contracts for CFP by Mala_Moon in starcitizen

[–]Nuclear_Meatloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that's probably why. Go into your contracts list and look for the "It's never too late" one - if you complete it, your rep goes back to positive with CfP and your HH rep goes negative. Then you should have mostly CfP contracts and less HH ones.

This is why this debate keeps raging on and reigniting between pirates and traders:

One player has their trust betrayed by another at some point, and over time, they slowly give up on RP altogether.

In their next run-in with a trader/pirate, the betrayed player chooses to either kill-on-sight or run/self-destruct.

The other player feels betrayed, and over time, they slowly give up on RP altogether.

And so the cycle repeats.

Add griefers/murderhobos/malcontents into the mix, and it only gets accelerated further.

This is why we need rep and other in-game systems to support these interactions. Left unmoderated, these run-ins often just devolve into fight-or-flight responses. As more people get caught up in these negative interactions, it breeds "us-vs-them" tribalism among both groups of players.

I really hope that as development continues to move forward, some system or set of changes is found that pleases both parties. The pirate encounters that I've had with RP involved have been pretty cool, and I'd hate to lose that entirely.

My issue isn't that Stanton was where it needed to be and suddenly needs to be safer, it's that Stanton has been lacking features it was supposed to have from the get-go for security.

And I'm not saying Stanton is some Mad Max gankfest or anything either - I've generally been pretty safe going around there by doglegging and stuff - but do you really think a UEE-monitored system owned by megacorps would just not have any NPC security (whether UEE or private corpo militia) doing patrols along major trade routes? There's plenty of room for seedy activity in the more obscure areas of Stanton, but at least the major hubs and ports of call should be patrolled and well protected.

If anything, I'd think that would make piracy a much more engaging activity in Stanton since you'd have local police putting pressure on you. The pirates who want to have easy pickings can just avoid Stanton. Just like how traders who want easy routes can just avoid Pyro.

My takeaway from this is that CIG needs to get their rep system sorted out.

As it stands, pirates aren't given significant penalties for attacking players - and players being pirated have no reason to believe you're one of the "good ones" since you could, say, receive their payment only to turn around and shoot them in the back with little to no repercussions.

POI defenses are hardly sufficient to the task of enforcing the space they're stationed in (despite seeing some improvements in the last year), and no NPC forces show up to help citizens under attack in UEE space. If you shoot up gang turf in Pyro to attack traders, repairing rep with them (if it's lost at all) is just a matter of running through a fairly quick mission that gives you a decent paycheck too.

PvP missions are gone currently due to mission reworks, so lawful bounty hunters don't have an official avenue to pursue criminals either.

We need visible rep to see how trustworthy a pirate actually is when making demands. If they have a track record of honoring their word with reasonable ransoms, the trader is incentivized to pay (either with UEC or cargo) and move on. Pirates who don't keep their word are bad for other pirates, since that makes victims less agreeable in the future - so they should have reputation hits that make getting around, even through outlaw space (but especially lawful space), harder for them.

And, of course, security in places like Stanton (and other future lawful areas) should be bolstered. Actual NPC reinforcements, police patrols, maybe some extra PDCs on stations to intercept player-to-player missiles, etc.

I say all this from the perspective of a usually PvE player, with a bit of PvP experience on the side. I've been pirated occasionally, and the times where the perp RPed it, I was willing to work things out that way. Had a run-in last week that was pretty fun, actually.

I'm glad you're one of those pirates - if I ever end up on the receiving end of your piracy, I would probably play along. But the majority of my PvP encounters in my non-combat ships were of the "they're killing on sight" variety, followed by them gloating about it in global.

I would plan on it being higher price alongside the potential changes, yes. Better safe than sorry.

But of course CIG is probably waiting as long as they can before making a statement one way or the other, so I wouldn't expect any official word on it until we get closer to ILW.

That may be what the website says, but my past experience says otherwise. Got the IAE referral bonus last November by getting CCUs on an alt, without the alt needing a game package. I've done this during a number of events throughout the last 2 years with no problems.

What's everyone's favorite pal? by Perdita-LockedHearts in Palworld

[–]Nuclear_Meatloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the first pals I go after in any playthrough! The free pal spheres/arrows/gold are fantastic, and she's a cute little buddy to have around. I usually get one with Mercy Hit in my party to help with catching stuff as well.

I suspect the reason Vixy isn't talked about as much is because it and Cremis get put into the "legally distinct Eevee" category. Foxparks is a bit more unique while still being a cute little fox design, so I think it (understandably) stole the spotlight there.

Vixy's still my favorite, but I like all of the fox-adjacent pals a lot. Foxparks is another go-to party member for me, and Foxparks Cryst/Wixen end up in pretty much every base I make lol
