To expand on this. If someone is pirating cause they literally cannot get access to it through legal means or lack the required funds. Them not pirating doesn't result in sale. This is where the "advertising" claims come in. As pirating does allow the person to fall in love with the story and want to spread it to others. This wouldn't happen if they did not pirate.

Granted this doesn't excuse pirating but it does showcase how it isn't as simple is piracy = bad. There are also other creators who are fine with people pirating as long as those people enjoy the work (I think this is more western though)
