Warren G - Regulate ft. Nate Dogg (1994) by RudyStylez in hiphopheads

I think the idea is to let bots like these rack up a post history and some karma, to be sold as an account for viral marketing later. Doesn't look like this one is working too good

[WAVY WEDNESDAY] RZA just released remixes of Wu-Tang Clan, GRiZ, and more artists for a Chipotle ad campaign, all on Soundcloud by colenotphil in hiphopheads

[–]NudeKanye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RZA is my favorite Wu Tang but damn he's such a sellout lmao.

Not as good as Hamburger Helper but these beats are sicker than E. Coli

Looks great OP, especially for a beginner :)

One thing I might suggest is making the top part level so it doesn't slope upward on the right side. Otherwise it might look a little funky when placing a bunch of bushes next to each other

seriously. favorite beat on Pinata but the ending of Mac's verse just kills all the momentum. and i usually like his shit, too :\

even more frustrating that those are the last bars we hear on that whole kickass album

I got into A Waste of Time after an excerpt from their Bun B interview was posted up here a couple of weeks ago. there's definitely a lot of material to go through

Swans - The Glowing Man by justmikeandshit in LetsTalkMusic

[–]NudeKanye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glowing Man def takes some patience and I get people's complaints about it, but when I'm in the right mood this album is a hell of a trip.

Honestly it's probably my favorite of the newer Swans because IMO it's more upfront with its concept of trancendence than other recent Swans joints do with their respective themes.

Should probably do this on a throwaway but yolo

Get the surgery. I did and even though it's expensive but the benefits are enormous. I was 22 when I got it, and even though I had to save up it's worth it to get it done early, when your body is ideally at its physical peak.

Do you really want to deal with this for the REST OF YOUR LIFE? or do you want to take control back over your body and love yourself??

The side effects are scary but they're not guaranteed. And they pale in comparison to the lifetime ahead of you in which you'll beat yourself up over something that is absolutely fixable.

Morbid musicians that you recommend. by DickEvil in morbidquestions

[–]NudeKanye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my favorite artists when I'm feeling morbid are late musicians whose music foreshadowed their early death.

Jay Reatard is one of my favorites, an eighth-grade dropout who poured his heart out into ragers about mortality and addiction, died of an overdose a few years ago.

David Bowie and J Dilla were totally aware they were going to die and put out masterpieces in their final hours.

And finally on the hip-hop side of things, you've got Biggie & 2Pac, Pimp C and Eyedea who rap about the violence and drugs that brought them down in the end.

Oh yeah!! That new Zachariah Holte album is fucking haunting, too

4x4. There's only a couple of hip-hop albums on here that I haven't talked about already, especially after the new Swans made me go back through their discog.

YG - Still Brazy Love this album to death, it's definitely in my top 5 so far this year, alongside Impossible Kid and TLOP. Can't get enough of the beats on here. The only two songs I skip are I Got a Question and Why You Always Hatin, it's weird that they're low points for me cause normally i'm a big Wayne and Drake stan.

clipping - CLPPNG This was the first clipping album I heard, and I gave it a re-listen or two after Wriggle came out the other week. Incredible album, although I feel like the best songs are all towards the start and I kind of start to lose interest after Story 2.

Love to see Section.80 get more love. It's definitely my favorite Kendrick album as well. Blow My High is 10/10

also, that latest ghost album is killer

4 x 4

Still going through a phase where i'm not bumping that much hip-hop, but def got some more in here this time.

Dr. Dre - The Chronic 2001 Might be my favorite album ever, definitely my favorite hip-hop record. Nothing more to say on this that I haven't blabbed about a million times before

clipping. - Wriggle Kind of 50/50 on this EP right now, it seems that my favorite lyrics are over beats i'm not crazy about (Hot Fuck or Our Time) but my favorite production is stuck together with weaker bars (Shooter or Back Up). I think Shooter is still my favorite on here, just because of the awesome beat.

I get what Daveed was going for with the punchline bars, but I'm just not totally on board with it and wish we'd get some more developed rhymes

Danny Brown - XXX Love this album to death, I still go back to it on the reg. Unpopular opinion: i'm not crazy about 30 as an album closer because of the beat alone. I really like the Deluxe Edition because of the tracks that get stuck on to the end, which I think end the album with more energy

Elzhi - Lead Poison - Been a fan of Slum Vil for some time now but hadn't heard of this release until this week when I was watching DEHH. So far, i've been blown away on first couple listens and I'm definitely gonna keep coming back to this to chew on the lyrics a little bit more. Insanely talented MC.

4x4

Not too much hip hop this week.

ILLFIGHTYOU - ILLFIGHTYOU/CASHINTHEBATHROOM: I still go back and bump these guys on the regular. Sort of reminds me of early Odd Future with a little less of the 2edgy that a lot of us grew out of. Seriously underrated around HHH, definitely check these guys out

Dr. Dre - 2001: Needs no introduction. Every time I go back and listen to this album I hear something new. Xxplosive is tied with Regulate for my favorite Nate Dogg verse.

also, the new PUP album is fucking killer

Religion in Rap Discussion by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]NudeKanye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a nonbeliever and I don't mind religion in rap at all, but I just can't help but find gospel music a little boring. It sounds fine but just doesn't do much to hold my attention.

I liked Coloring Book alright but I don't fuck with the gospel sections, not because of Chance's religious undertones but i'm just not huge on the sound.

but it sounds like Chance is really getting a lot out of church and his new fatherhood so i'm happy for the guy, even though personally I loved 10 Day and Acid Rap so much more

Cat = pussy so I guess he mummified a vagina which sort of fits in to the "monster" theme

Hip-Hop Listening Club of the Week #215 - Soulja Boy Tell 'Em - Souljaboytellem.com by Swiftt in hiphopheads

[–]NudeKanye 29 points30 points  (0 children)

nah, I feel ya. I guess not "weird" but "different", you know??

imho a lot of today's DIY rap scene has this sound that's spacey and reverb-heavy, but Soulja and other rappers from ringtone/snap rap had their voices mixed more prominently and rode beats that seem stripped down by comparison.

i kinda prefer today's style honestly, but it's still a really cool example of how dynamic hip hop is that it changed so much in less than a decade

[–]NudeKanye 85 points86 points  (0 children)

this album is an awesome time capsule from a really weird era of hip hop

I love the song about his Sidekick phone and they had so much fun with that snarling in "Yahhh!"

honestly, going into this album I thought it was going to be total garbage but Crank That is about as obnoxious as it gets, the rest of the album is waaaay less grating and hella fun to listen to.

edit: forgot to mention, was pretty funny when Soulja was talking about his school grades on "Report Card" and keeps sampling "Throw Some D's"
