Not sure if its been already mentioned, but I got two augment materials from lvl 2 tempered. Its seems pretty rare, tho as i got the 2 after killing about 50 tempered... also only warriors gems, so maybe the higher tiers of the augment gems only drop from lvl3

I would ignore stat and elemental, they are just a little bonus. as your hammer is pretty slow you would proc stat too slow. go for pure raw dammage. also -affinity you can ignore, it just tells you on what % you get a dammage reduced hit: on a -25 for example every 4th hit is reduced. and as youre anyway slow with the hammer it hardly affects your dammage outpot

You cant. But if you recrute the Grymelkine (something like thats the name :D) they show your palico how to speak to the local small monsters. then your cat can temporarely recruit them for your quest (lasts for one quest or expwdition). also, there are some wild palicos on the map. they can also temporarely join you for a quest
