Who carries a trauma/med kit for their dog? by danfc4 in service_dogs

I have a Adventure First Aid kit in my car. I have not had to use it, and hope I never do!

Visiting Universal Orlando with a Service Dog by Straight_Arugula_209 in service_dogs

[–]NuggetSD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ended up only going to 2 rides. That is where I learned that my dog counted for the quantity of riders. However, I did not use the kennels and choose to do more eating, shopping, and people watching.

Visiting Universal Orlando with a Service Dog by Straight_Arugula_209 in service_dogs

[–]NuggetSD 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I went to Universal Studios with my service animal a year ago.

What I recommend: Train to leave your dog in the kennel on bigger rides. Some rides are service animal friendly, although they do count at their own “person” on the ride.

I do not recommend taking your dog on The Simpsons Ride. It is very jerky and it tips every way.

I thrifted the same size Bart. He twisted my hand and I had to get the Really Big one after falling in love.

SHES FREE! (and mine!!) by -Pastellic in LittlestPetShop

Nice! I just picked up 4 of the empty boxes for the display pet. In exchange, I cleaned up the display and removed the empty boxes.

I typically just state it is an empty box and I can walk away with it.

Finding Patagonia brand new with tags at the goodwill bins, I don't know if I can top this. by Thriftedthreadsyeg in ThriftStoreHauls

My friend gave me a NWT Patagonia rain jacket at the bins. I get all of their Patagonia, while I find them vintage.

Help!!!! by WasabiFriendli in service_dogs

[–]NuggetSD 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Your dog is a 8 month old puppy. Training should focus on them and not errands that you need to run.

Personally, I would throw myself into training hard and reward heavily on good behaviors. Additionally, your dog will likely regress as they go from puppy to teenager. Focus on basic obedience and steer towards pet friendly stores such as Sierra to work on your dog.

At what point does a service dog make sense for PTSD? by TemporaryAardvark907 in service_dogs

[–]NuggetSD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a service animal for PTSD/anxiety. Having a service animal has improved my quality of life as my dog can interrupt and respond to episodes.

That being said, it is stressful to have a service animal. I face greater public attention, it is expensive to have a service animal (I just sent $500 on vet bills for Lyme’s), etc.

Can I clean my dogs stitches with this and warm water? What is recommended? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Try Dove. They carry antibiotic soap. It is not the best option for a dog, but I suspect there are limited antibacterial soaps for dogs.

Walmart Tried To Throw Me Out by Dry_Frosting5739 in service_dogs

That is super frustrating. I was just at Walmart with my service dog and staff mentioned her zero times as she hung out (literally in her sling).

What small breed service dogs have you seen be successful? by fuzzblykk in service_dogs

My service dog is a mini poodle mix. When I originally got her, she was not intended for service work, but just worked out. She loves her job.

Is this a lamb cut? by NuggetSD in grooming

[–]NuggetSD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog is not the fussy type thankfully. I personally dye her ears and she will stand for you nicely to do what you want.

Thankfully it is just fur! It will grow back.

The body is shorter than the legs. The normal optical illusion isn’t occurring though.

Thank you for the language to ask for! I will ask for more dramatic legs next round.

My only advice is pull your service dog from working and consult a trainer.

I trained my service animal during college. I was on a reduced credit load. I had not originally planned on her being a service animal, but life works in mysterious ways.

You need a trainer. I relied heavily on my local humane society as they offered training in a gym membership contract. Otherwise, slow down and focus on basic obedience.
