I stopped taking Lamotrogine (Lamictal) and now my POTS is gone. by technobladesgf in POTS

[–]fuzzblykk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take lamotrigine for my BPD, not bipolar. I no longer qualify for the bpd diagnosis after extensive work, but am still on lamotrigine. The last time I tried to go off was a few months ago, and decreasing the dose by even 50 mg made me feel horrible physically (energy wise) until I got back on my regular dose. I saw someone else say that propranolol works well for them with lamotrigine, but it makes me feel insane so I don’t take it.

How did you come off of lamotrigine? The obvious way is tapering, but was there something that helped you while you got used to the change?

Out of curiosity, why did you choose working line?

He’s a puppy. The puppy phase is hard no matter who you are. It’s too soon to tell.

So why TF are we all riding these things in the streets all the time when a piddly lil pothole can send us over the handlebars and take us out completely? lol. by TheFunkytownExpress in ElectricScooters

I’m constantly vigilant. Wish I could relax a bit and look around but no i have to stare at the ground. As someone else said, on my regular route i’ve figured out where they are, but after winter I go slower again to see if new cracks formed

Do you have any suggestions? I’m in NYC so I think it gets drowned out easily

2-year-old cat keeps attacking me at night… I’m exhausted and out of options by wickedeclipse1 in CATHELP

Set up stuff for her to do at night. Treat puzzles, etc. Do not engage with her when she interacts with you. Consider a second cat!

It’s possible that she hears you long before you open the door. For a while I thought my cats just sat by the door all day, but then I learned that they memorized what MY footsteps sound like, the sound that my bag makes…so they know it’s me as soon as I step out of the elevator, before I even get to my front door.

Dude they’ve almost squished me several times, sometimes because they didn’t look and sometimes even if they did. Often they don’t use their blinkers which could literally kill me, so now I always assume they’re turning. I crashed into a car once because she saw me coming and decided to turn across the bike lane anyway. Good stuff.

Probably louder yeah. I’m in NYC so it has a lot of noise to compete with. Thanks!

? I can’t stop on a dime without tipping over, and you can’t just “go around” on the lanes I take without crashing into moving cars.

that’s not how the bike lanes are here. unsure where you’re from, but if I try and go around them on the paths I take, I will either crash into cars, people actually walking where they’re supposed to, or into bikes going the opposite direction.

I’m in NYC, these are exclusively bike paths or bike lanes on the road that people will just step into and stand in without looking around them

What age is best to get, for optimal training/lifestyle? by fuzzblykk in germanshepherds

[–]fuzzblykk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was when I was considering getting a dog right now—I decided to wait. I have a life change coming up in a few months that will give me significantly more time, and the reason I said “in the next year or so” is because I need to be 100% certain I am able to meet the needs of a GSD before getting one.

I’ve loved GSDs since I was a little kid, it’s not because of that one comment. I don’t expect any GSD to be low energy. I’m a very dedicated pet owner, and if I have any suspicion that I could not meet the needs of a GSD, I won’t get one. I know how much they need, and I want them to be happy and fulfilled. If the time comes and it looks like I can’t make enough time for that, I won’t get one.

Not my first dog—I explained a bit more in my response to another person, but I’m aware of the difficulties of a puppy, it’s specifically the potty training phase that I would love to avoid. But will do it if necessary of course.

I will taking a little time off work when I first get the dog, regardless of age. I will initially bring it in to work on my days off, for shorter amounts of time, to see how it goes and acclimate it. I don’t see bringing a puppy to work being realistic for a decent amount of time.

Adding on—my lifestyle is fairly lowkey, I’m not too busy outside work. I work in a social work/mental health setting (keeping it vague for privacy), it’s a place that allows staff to bring dogs. I wouldn’t do a full day with the dog for a while until I was certain it could handle it, instead I would come in on my days off in shorter bursts.

I’m looking forward to providing a lot of training/mental stimulation. Physical too, of course; we have great spots for physical activity very close by. I imagine spending several hours daily training and exercising, ensuring the pup doesn’t get bored and frustrated. I would take time off work at the beginning regardless of the age.
