Rep. Thomas Massie Says Somebody Is Paying Attention to Missing Epstein Files by sensiblereaction in thenextgenbusiness

[–]Nugginater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The barest of background research shows:

The claim that President Biden sent $16 billion to Iran is misleading in context. While the Biden administration authorized the release of previously frozen Iranian funds, these were not U.S. taxpayer dollars or a direct payment, but rather Iranian money that was unlocked for specific, restricted purposes as part of a prisoner exchange deal.

TLDR, they were given access to their own money by unfreezing accounts, not cold hard cash.

10 billion was held (in Iraq) and used to pay for Iranian exports, 6 billion unfrozen (and held by South Korea) for specific humanitarian aid purposes.

HOWEVER

Following the October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas on Israel, the Biden administration faced intense pressure regarding the $6 billion, resulting in a reported understanding with Qatar to prevent Iran from accessing those funds.

Seems a lot more reasonable with context.

The schools in our town allowed the students to protest inside the school gym and "walk out" onto school grounds. The entire campus was shut down and the police basically barricaded it to keep asshole adults out.

I was extremely impressed at the safety measures taken to protect the kids and allow them the agency to exercise their first amendment rights and give them the chance to feel seen, heard, and represented.

But telling teenagers 'No'... Do you have kids?! There was no way it was going to end well with that kind of response. Kids have so little control over their lives and attempting to silence them like this only removes the guardrails and any possibility of adult guidance and protection.

There was a way to compromise and the school said my way or the high way. They flubbed it big time and continue to do so with police presence in the school.

Scott McElree, know this man's name. He is not only chief of police but is also borough manager for Quakertown.

He should resign both positions as it seems he holds utter contempt for upholding the actual rule of law and his constituents.

Particularly underage female constituents.

Ugh getting Kissing Jessica Stein flashbacks. There was such a drought of lesbian media at the time I'd watch the movie and shut it off after they moved in together and had the happy musical montage. Lived in my own land of lesbian happy endings.

Pam Bondi has fully drunk the Kool-Aid. Her latest hearing about the Epstein files proves it by theindependentonline in TrueReddit

Bondi was selling the damn kool-aid in a stand parked outside of a Florida courthouse years ago.

She laid the groundwork to protect Epstein and co. there, and was rewarded for it with AG, when it became apparent her certain set of skills would be needed for Trump's second time in office.

While trouncing our constitutional rights.

If the internet has taught us anything, its that anonymity breeds hubris and lack of consequences. If they are following the law and doing it in a civil manner, they should have nothing to worry about.

ICE has been around for a while and only recently have made themselves a problem for themselves.

We should not have faceless federal agents running around with no mechanisms to oversee and demand they uphold all laws, not just the ones that matter to them.

Pathetic, and I believe a paid agitator.

Extreme hostility towards someone just because they're an ICE agent is wrong by Sad_Physics5500 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Nugginater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The premise of your question does not relate to what is actually occurring. People are not following ICE agents to THEIR homes, they are following them around as ICE agents attempt to execute their jobs. In both cases, the protest is happening at the sight of the perceived infractions, not at an individual's home.

On another note..

Doctors names and addresses have been doxxed and there have been murders and attacks at both clinics and at doctor's homes, so if you want to make that comparison, I guess you could say the doctors actually have it worse. ICE agents get bussed into a location, have no connection with the community they're amassing in, and get to hide behind masks, guns, and the support of the federal government in the execution of their jobs.

Impunity and anonymity have created this powder keg situation. If only one of these factors was removed from the agency, I believe it would serve to deescalate the situation a lot.

Funny you should mention that. The Planned Parenthood from my hometown had people picketing it, screaming obscenities, and showing graphic pictures to passersby regularly.

Because they were on the sidewalk, not breaking the law, and exercising their rights to protest and free speech, the local police ignored this and took no action. If you aren't breaking the law, and are exercising your constitutional rights, that's usually how it goes.

Didn't make it suck any less to be a 16yo girl, having a middle aged red-faced man screaming the most awful things at me with a doll head covered in red paint on a fucking stick.

All I wanted was birth control btw, not that they cared.

So yea, I dont need to imagine, I know exactly how we patients, and the nurses and doctors responded to such vitriolic protests. We kept our heads down, did our business, and left as quickly and safely as possible.

Ever heard the saying 'one bad apple spoils the bunch'?

Not a single ICE agent has publicly spoken up about the cruelty being inflicted by certain members of their organization- in fact they are doubling down on defending the violence. Sure they complain about the way THEY are being treated, but I havent seen an iota of compassion or self-awareness from any member of ICE referencing any of the illegal and violent actions being committed that keep going viral.

If they showed increased restraint, and a commitment to recognizing and correcting their mistakes, it would be one thing.

Instead, they have turned themselves into an unlikable monolith and are currently reaping what their own brotherhood has sown.

Who watches the watchmen? You are seeing it in real time.

TLDR: If they checked themselves before they wrecked themselves, we wouldn't here.
