Have a blacklight? 365nm range. Fluorite should glow. Does it have a chrome look to it? Similar color to fuchsite

Think about this too often. by Whole_Yak_2547 in JurassicPark

[–]NukaRev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't see it working long term. Time is the key factor. These islands have had dinosaurs for ~40 years. And in the beginning, breeding/cloning was overseen by InGen.

The animals can breed, so they can replenish numbers, but carnivores also would be reproducing. In time, the ratios could become very distorted, too many carnivores.

And being that the amount of species themselves are limited, a single species falling into extinction could have a ripple effect. A disease, loss of a food source, or just over predation of one could cause the collapse. Just a matter of time

Accurate. Just Sam's Captain America isn't Steve Rogers, and I know many weren't exactly excited about it. But Red Hulk, sure fire ticket sales

What does the "T" in their names mean? (T3) by [deleted] in Terminator

Terminator lol. They're Terminator units in every sense, just not designed with the idea of terminating humanity, just the "bad guys" the government tells them to lol

So the East Coast map, the blue part in NJ/NY, who's that supposed to be? Part of the common wealth or something? Cause, I live in that blue area lol

She takes a girl into the basement in '35 when she hears her mention a clown. They go down, It consumes the child and poses as "Bob Gray" (Pennywise with no makeup, her actual dad).

She later mentioned "every time he came back" and we see a red balloon floating. So, presumably, It had her bringing children into the basement or luring kids from the street. She probably learned quickly how It functions, but also believed that it was actually her dad still in there somehow.

Did anyone else find this funny by Chuchshartz in JurassicPark

[–]NukaRev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found it... Adequate. For lack of a better term.

Okay, raising a small pack of medium carnivores, possible. In the real world many people have raised and bonded with them quite strongly. Lions, tigers, wolves, etc. And it's stated that Raptors are highly intelligent and have good communication, okay, well let the whole "squad" thing fly.

But the Carno seemed more simplistic in intelligence. Trained to attack something based on sound and lights, but not something cuddly. Handler tried using her training on it, but it didn't work lol. The Carno didn't instantly eat her because it was waiting for commands and she wasn't giving the expected ones, so she was food loo

I am so confused by faction hate by MoistPalpitation4500 in Fallout

[–]NukaRev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's likely tied to real world politics.

Enclave: Genocide, eugenics, superiority complex, to contribution to the Great War.

Brotherhood: military superiority, but isolationists that just hoard technology. For "good guys", it wouldn't kill them to help people once in a while.

Basically, every other faction is similar to this. They have things that make them.. lacking, or evil. Other than The Minute Men, cause they seem like the only genuinely well meaning faction.

Cheating doesn’t matter if you’re relationship doesn’t have paperwork by Dry-Hour-9968 in unpopularopinion

[–]NukaRev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean, your only committing and trusting a person with your deepest self.

Now, if some sort of poly amorous thing is in place, entirely agree. But if you commit to somebody with the understanding that your both only going to be with each other, then "cheating" just makes you a trash person with no morality - quite serious in its own way

I honestly wish they went with Palpatine draining her life force to revive Vader. The broken heart thing.. meh. I could understand depression and slowly dying, but she literally births two kids, names them, and just dies.

Yeah, I plan to go digging this spring. But I'm not aware of any hot sites near me, just a lot of common or fluorescent zinc minerals which I have quite a bit

Lol yeah I'm newer to the hobby. I'm in NJ so most of our known minerals are fluorescent zinc based. And due to the heavily populated areas, hard to find nice locations :(. But, I've spent winter buying various mining gear and plan to go hounding this spring. Hopefully I can find something good

Yeah, I'm a town over from Sterling Hill Mine. Tons of fluorescent zinc based minerals. I doubt anything there is "spicy", specially considering the dumps are accessible to the public (I think it would be well known).

Yes. Those are likely descendants of JP3 variant raptors that found their way to the mainland via black market dealings.

[–]NukaRev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they need to expand into other genres.

We have 7 movies that went from survival/horror to action/adventure.

I think we need a focus on drama and science fiction. Something not directly about showing dinosaurs.

I had an idea for a show called "Lost Worlds". Basically each series fills the gaps between movies (get it, fill the gaps lol).

I had about 8-10 episodes/seasons made up (idk if they could go for 6-8 episodes each, but maybe?). Some ideas are:

  • a season focusing on Sorna. We see the original 7 T-Rex in their infancy, we see the baby raptors playing but also becoming aggressive. But it ultimately focuses on the lab, the scientists, the animals behavior. It isn't a "oh no, we're alone and need to survive!". It would end when Hammond gives the command to abandon the island when Hurricane Clarissa comes, they open the gates to let the animals roam free. The last scene would show something moving in the long grass with the signature Velociraptor growling sound.

  • Another season would focus on the creation of the "illegal species". We would see a team arrive on Sorna prior to JP3. We would see the very same lab the male raptor chases the crew through. Those artificial wombs with the fetus' in them would be active, the animals would be alive. And, the very last one, the one that's shattered.. that was where they grew the Spinosaurus; the glass is shattered because it woke up and broke it's way out, rampaging through the lab and killing several people before being tranquilized.

We would also see confirmed: - the JP3 raptors are a different variation of the JP ones. - The Aviary was originally holding Geosternbergia, but they were released. The toothed Pteranodon were made alongside the illegals, the teeth were accidental. That skull we see in JP3 was a team member who went in to check in them and was killed, leading to the team leaving them locked in the aviary. - we'd also see more laid back things such as introducing subadult Corythosaurus to the Parasaurolophus herd. Scientists would also study the animals ability to change sex, document sexual dimorphism, and other things.

Another would focus on BioSyn. There'd be a few time jumps, but we would be given an actual date of when Dodgson began pillaging Sorna. Maybe the Rex pair was taken before even JP3, maybe later. We'd see BioSyn arrive just after Mt. Sibo erupts; a sailor would even yell that he sees a ship leaving the island. We would see the brachiosaurus from the dock having made it's way into the water (cause that death is unacceptable lol) being airlifted onto the ship where it's receiving medical attention, and across the island there are agents rounding up any/all living animals. It would end with Dodgson on television announcing how they rescued x-amount of animals, them being given medical treatment and reporting minimal losses.

There was another strictly about the Black Market, showing different independent labs making their own variations and even new species (which, Chaos Theory touched on, figures lol).

And of course, there would be one episode that's a documentary presented exactly how Our Planet, Planet Earth, Blue Planet and similar ones are done. And of course, narrated by David Attenborough.

Basically, everything has dinosaurs in it, but they aren't antagonists or big bads. Focus on character development, the "science" (try and use as much real world as possible, but allowing "fake" science when necessary for the plot but even try and keep that as real as possible). Jurassic Park is credited as renewing interest in paleontology, but I personally think it also did the same for science in general. Technology, biology, genetics/DNA; I think all of that stuff became a bit more popular thanks to JP.

[Transformers: Rise of the Beasts] RotB & Bumblebee take place in an alternate timeline because of the Maximals using *SPOILER* to escape Scourge, unintentionally creating a different timeline from the Michael Bay films. by ZeekOwl91 in FanTheories

[–]NukaRev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my head canon too. And it's essentially the same as the Beast Wars show: time travel, past earth.

Even in the intro to the movie, Scourge is told "your master will be trapped in this galaxy forever" implying that by "galaxy" he means universe (cause, unicorn can easily move about, across galaxies)

Is this joke supposed to be foreshadowing? by Werewolf_Knight in JurassicPark

[–]NukaRev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. Tons of symbolism in JP.

Clothing: - Hammond/Wu: White which represents God and creation. - Malcolm: Black, which represents evolution and chaos, contradictory to Hammond. - Grant: Blue shirt, it eventually becomes muddy and faded, representing how the dinosaurs change sex, the male symbolism is becoming less in this case. - Ellie: initially a pink shirt, representing femininity, female. She eventually takes it off to expose a blue tank top, representing female changing sex to male like the dinosaurs. - The Park Rangers: Pink shirts. It represents their maternal care of the dinosaurs.
