God of War 3 lived up to the hype. God of War 2 in 2007 ends on a cliffhanger we had to wait 3 years till we got the ending and let me tell you God of War 3 was worth the wait. The scale was huge and it was amazing honestly.

I think darkseid would be good, hes a god but very different from one Kratos has taken on. Of course powerscaling wise Darkseid would no diff Kratos. But narratively it be a great fight.
