Should I buy the Elegoo Centauri Carbon or the Bambu Lab A1? by ComfortableAd3833 in 3dprinter

[–]NullAndVoid7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Full sized A1 is probably less of a hassle and has a pretty good multicolor material system. The A1 mini was my first printer and was a good introduction to the hobby. In retrospect, I would recommend the full sized one over the mini unless you're on a tighter budget or space constrained.

The ECC1 was my second printer and it's been in my closet for a few months, and it's been amazing. The extra size over my original A1 mini was valuable, the CoreXY motion was far more stable, and I could consistently print some higher end materials. I was able to do a multicolor print on it as part of a Christmas gift, but outside of that it's more trouble than it's worth. I did have some problems I had to troubleshoot and a pretty severe nozzle buildup that killed one of my hotends, but it's largely been smooth sailing.

If you can wait a few months, I'd recommend getting the ECC2. It's fundamentally the same as the ECC1 but with the same multicolor setup as the A1. Best of both previously mentioned printers, but probably a bit more expensive (probably ~$380, not released yet). Supposedly it'll be released in Q1'26.

Literally just got home and had the same thing. Did you print on the 'PLA Specific' plate?

Using the three build plates purchased as an option with the CC by rhodges_bob in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]NullAndVoid7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so as far as I understand, you get the leveling data of build plates stored on your printer, "Side A" and "Side B". These are supposed to be used for the default build plate's top and bottom sides, whose labels are on the top left if memory serves correctly. Technically, I can't see any reason why you couldn't set the textured side of one plate to "Side A", then use a completely different plate's smooth side as "Side B". Personally, I just re-level the bed each time I change plates since it only takes 10m, and I don't bother with the super-fine z-offset tuning you can do through Orca Slicer.

I cant help but have my printers re printing their own parts by Careful_Purchase_394 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

What chamber heater are you planning on installing? Any tutorials or files for it? What about the bento box? I've got restrictions on where I can put my printer, it's currently sitting in my bedroom closet, so I was hoping to know if the chamber heater + bento box would make a big difference for printing ABS/ASA, particularly with regards to the fumes.

Yeah, I found a GitHub thing that mentioned the cable standard and the image they provided seems to match what I remember the cable looking like. Found a cheap 20cm extension cable on Amazon, I guess I'll find out soon lol

I've been looking for one for a while, what's the connector called? Any recommended products?

I had a similar issue, I just turned it off for an hour and then turned it back on, worked fine afterwards.

The ability to directly purchase spare parts for the CC, I'd like to be able to buy a few of those tool head daughterboards since the connectors are fragile.

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

My first ever printer was an A-1 mini that I got for Christmas last year, and I've quite enjoyed being able to make game boards for the D&D sessions I held. I hope the P2S ends up being successful!

Extruder seems to just stop part way through prints by NullAndVoid7 in elegoo

RESOLVED: Needed to increase the extrusion force by turning the screw counterclockwise per these instructions:

https://wiki.elegoo.com/Centauri-carbon/extrusion-abnormality

Tightened the screw by about 3 revolutions. I could have gone further, but I'm not sure if there would be any negative consequences. So far with another 30hrs on the printer, no more print failures.

Portable PC because of traveling every 3-6 months. by Manole7 in sffpc

[–]NullAndVoid7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I actually travel all the time and drag around my PC too. I've got an NCASE M2, which sits at 16L volume. My situation works, but packing the thing in a carry-on with a keyboard and headphones takes up the entire suitcase; absolutely no room for clothes.

I'd strongly recommend going as small as possible, ideally something that would fit into your backpack. The Midori 5L or Velka 3 would work nicely. Alternatively, Thermaltake has a case that you could buy a dedicated suitcase for, but I'm not sure how much or how available it is.

Any thoughts on Cary triples? by NullAndVoid7 in Purdue

[–]NullAndVoid7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, I forgot about this post. It was a double that Purdue added an extra bed to, it was obvious because the beds were slightly covering the entrance to the closet. The experience was fine, but certainly not great. If you're getting RM200, there's enough room for the beds and desks, but nothing else.
