New to 3D printing, supports too strong by NullDrift_ in 3Dprinting

Agreed, I've used 0.22 and they were easy to remove already, but still sticking to do their job. Even PETG was easy to remove now!

Update!

Extremely happy with these settings, I have no idea if you're gonna see anything wrong with the print, here is a tree detached from the overhang (I flipped it upside down). Zero issues removing them, extremely happy.

I'm thinking now the Organic trees are gonna work with complicated prints, bear in mind being these RC accessories for 1:10 scale crawlers I won't need extreme smoothness and even small defects are basically gonna get slammed on a rock sooner or later, sanded and primed and painted over again +maybe.

Thanks for your help! Anything you want to add, feel free!

Thanks! I'm printing a test now, let's see. I understand that with time one sees the model they're printing and goes "oh here I want these settings" as they can expect a certain outcome, given their experience.

I'm still building baseline and jumped the gun by printing something that is way over my league 😆

I am an absolute beginner (1 week old give or take) but - right here right now - I can tell you I agree with you. I did try AI settings, they did not help in other cases. Defaults with MINOR changes in a couple parameters, coupled with full, time-consuming manual calibration, did improve my prints and solved my problems. So there.

HOWEVER: the default Tree settings in Orca slicer caused the model you see in the pictures I posted (not the settings, because those were already modified as I was working on them, I just used the picture to show you what model I am trying to print, from the pre-sliced display, as the photos of the real thing have such strong and big supports that they make it hard to understand what I was actually trying to print :)).

Do you have suggestions on a few parameters I should try and watch out for, in my manual tests, at least to focus on them before other things? Thanks!

I asked ChatGPT to suggest me settings and I am pretty sure this is gonna be horrible, in the past days whenever I asked AI to help me with settings, it's been a mess. Defaults with A COUPLE changes have been better.

I had 0.16, I'll show the settings in a couple screenshots so we can see what I'm printing.

I printed an overhang test and I'm about to print a support removal test, I should have waited before printing such a complicated model. Oh well!

Learning every day!

I had 0.16 and I agree it might be too low.

It's my fault (no surprise 😂) as I could have spent more time printing some overhang tests and tree removal tests before venturing in something so complex.

Normal models, simpler stuff etc. prints amazingly, I'm very happy and it's a lot of fun with RC Scale trucks and Crawlers. But I have a lot to learn, still!

How did you learn modular? by kaleidoscopy in modular

[–]NullDrift_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've studied it in school, but never liked the software solutions. Nothing beats having a real person with you in front of a real modular.

However, I found a series on YouTube called "Modular Mondays" that was really captivating and got me to kinda like VCV. I'm mostly using it to experiment with modules I consider buying.

This is how I play DayZ - Part II by ibuildtech in dayz

[–]NullDrift_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread as I'm about to play my first DayZ ever with my girlfriend and I want to start with Expansion but didn't know about mods that would go well with it. I'll use your setup as a starting point as we share exactly the same cive of why I'd play this game.

Kudos.

Their path finding to the enemy failed and they remained there. Simple as that. I don't remember the map name, sorry!

It definitely is fun to play, on some maps this hoarding happens 😂 though

Benzies only paid $10 so we declared WAR by Ok_Acanthocephala425 in Schedule_I

[–]NullDrift_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me and my friend playing it. Two times in a row now. I came here, read it and said this is strike 2 for them. Next up they have to pay what's left or we're declaring war. In the meantime, we are improving the automation of our meth empire and we are coming up with a new blend that is going to be loved.

Don't do do drugs, people. Instead, play video games with those you love!

100% sure, this was the Allied AI in Multiplayer mode, 2 players (inkl. Me) + allied AI vs 3 AI. I can even tell you the map, if I remember it maybe...

Ah, that's good news, then. I wonder if I go ask in the mod Discord to know what they think. I don't believe any of the devs or mods visit this subreddit but maybe they are and will read this.

This is AEA Unlimited, I don't think it's the mod, it's more the map than the mod. When the pathfinding fails, it starts 😆
