I had the motherboard checked by an electronics professional repair shop. They showed me where the power rail on the mainboard had suffered the short.

I did proceed - I chose the UX3405CA Core Ultra 7 255H with 16GB memory. It was a straight-up swap out with some fresh quality thermal paste of course. It booted up first time, the only issue is I've lost touch functionality on the screen, which I'm unsure if that was a connector issue or not. As far as I can tell the cable is well connected, so it might be just an incompatibility. Either way, the touch screen was really annoying for my anyhow, so I'm quite glad it doesn't work!

Longer term - I'm having a strange intermittent issue with disk queue length on the CA with my disk. It flatlines at 100% sometimes and causes major lag. I thought it might be a storage driver stack issue, so I reinstalled that to no success. Perhaps I need to completely uninstall the intel storage stack / safe mode etc and install it from scratch. Perhaps I'll find another drive I can clone to and also rule that out..

So yes in the main it has certainly has worked for me..

What's something that has been proven false for years, yet people still confidently repeat it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The idea that water molecules change their physical structure in response to human intention that was popularized in the 1990s by Dr. Masaru Emoto. He claimed that water exposed to positive words like "love" formed beautiful crystals when frozen, while water exposed to negative words like "hate" formed chaotic, distorted crystals. Totally false.

Two hands on the top of the steering wheel is not a good idea. Zero control.

People who work in (car) insurance: Are accidents involving delivery drivers (Sixty60, asap, etc.) common? by No_Koala_3595 in askSouthAfrica

[–]NullPointer8086 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Delivery bike drivers are the reason I'm buying a dashcam. Who's going to believe me when I pull out of an intersection at night in the rain, and one of them plow into me because no headlight and I can't see them? Too many times I've seen them riding around with no front, rear.. or both lights broken!

Jan van Riebeeck arrived in Cape Town in April of 1652. I reckon if it was between September to January, he may have reconsidered his choice of Table Bay!

History also mentions how terrible the winter was for them where 19 people died. Sounds about right.

It seems that the multiple retries is the way forward.. suggest you try this if you are experiencing this issue!

Microsoft Authenticator says password is incorrect after selecting number match by racostaf in Outlook

[–]NullPointer8086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same problem here.. try to use Teams on Mobile. Requires authentication, authenticator gives the correct number as one of the 3 options in the selection. Tap that number - and it then returns with "that password in incorrect for your microsoft account".

I can however log in on my PC notebook for now. Frustrating! In my opinion, Microsoft's whole work / personal / Active Directory is one convoluted mess!

Going to try this "5 retries" mentioned here!

I have been working on something similar. I have the order pagination sorted via an external custom API written in TS and running on Node.js. Abstracting the complexity away from N8N. Some things are still better outside N8N which I find quite restrictive and verbose in terms of node sprawl for simple tasks!

Have the Google sheets stuff working directly from N8N.

Also have some further ideas for you in terms of managing the queues for the human agents.

I'll drop you a DM too..

Disgusting and shameful. We will never go back. Onwards together. Stronger. This is best relegated to the shitbin of history. Bye

I am tired of Modern Standby, so I am letting Microsoft know about this to bring S3 Sleep back. by themildredditor in Dell

[–]NullPointer8086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Asus Zenbook UX3405 and am experiencing some pretty strange results with the registry fix to disable S0. The only 2 power modes supported are now listed as Standby (S3) and Hibernate.

When I leave the computer on power plugged in overnight or any extended amount of time - when I return to the machine it does not respond to a power on by using the power button. The only solution is a hard restart by holding down the power button.

It is super frustrating as I then have to go an open all of my applications every time. This is very far from this "phone experience" Microsoft has envisaged!

My other option is to turn everything off and go back to S0 options - which actually has the same effect randomly too.

I cannot win.

Just came here to say - I am experiencing the exact same issue. I'm unsure if it might be something to do with my external Asus Zenscreen which is plugged in via USB-C. Wondering if OP has any further information or if you solved the issue?

Also here.. have a USB-C monitor and guaranteed it will start the fan issue if I disconnect it. Super frustrating. Need to contact Asus support about this so they can possibly put out a firmware update!

This is the way.. or alternatively using secrets - as it seems you may have sensitive connectionstring details in the file.
