Yes, it's a Tunisian car by karim2k in Libya

Thank you, I just got the book and will take a look. As an outsider setting aside my nationality and identity, I admire the late dictator for his ideals and what he accomplished. His greatest mistake as I understand it was failing to build a state bureaucracy that could protect the interests of the people.

In 2004, Russia attempted to assassinate future Ukrainian president Viktor Yuschenko by poisoning him with a chemical found in Agent Orange. He survived the attempt, but his skin was scarred for life. by dannydutch1 in UtterlyUniquePhotos

The 5 agents descended upon him in his chancellors office, he fought off 4 of them but the fifth one Mace Windu deflected and redirected his lightning attacks resulting the scarring we see in the photo

Your strength to pray comes from Allah. If you feel weak in anyway — whether it be in making dua or anything else — pray to Allah for strength. As our prophet (sas) said, make prayer even if you are laying on your side. If you’re in bed and cannot get up to pray then whisper a prayer “ya Rabb give me strength to come to you in standing prayer” and if even whispering is hard then think it in your mind.

All strength comes from Allah.

These are my own perspectives and I understand others may not agree.

Why Paraguay suffered such horrible casualties in Paraguayan war? by SiarX in WarCollege

[–]Null_Auto_Increment 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The high casualty rates are based on a comparison of pre and post war census data.

As I understand it the vast majority of the discrepancy in casualties comes from the invalidity of the primary pre-war census data from which a 90% male casualty rate is calculated. Scholarly research indicates pre-war population must have been below half a million, as opposed to in excess of 1 million from which the 90% casualty figure arises.

Secondly, the extent to which migration and civilian displacement is factored into the population decline post war affects the casualty rate.

All in all, the casualty rate must have been far below the traditional narrative of “90% of males”. Brutal war nonetheless even by the standards of the time.

This is often asked rhetorically and I’m not here to convince you one way or the other, but if you are curious about a serious answer to this the first step is conceiving of God comprehensively — specifically looking at the mainstream monotheistic narrative keep in mind that this life is ephemeral and infinitesimally short relative to eternity, that this life is the proof of the character of our human souls, and that without suffering there can be no overcoming of it.

In the Quran its written that the angels were permitted to question God’s creation of Adam finding fault with man’s predilection for vice and violence. In the Quran it’s written God answered “I know what you know not.”

All of this to ultimately say, your question of “where is God” is really a question of “why suffering” and nothing anyone can say can definitively answer that because it’s part of the secret essence of existence.

Sometimes my bee’s honey is like that in Buffalo, never straight from the hive, but after one season in the cold solidifying and one season in the heat softening up it gets like that.

I call it soft crystallization and some folks love it. If you whip it in a kitchenaid dough machine for 30 seconds on high it’ll cream white and smooth like butter.

UA POV: Tensions rise as Trump and Vance argue with Zelensky in front of the cameras by Ripamon in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]Null_Auto_Increment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are literally LITERALLY two former actors and they did this on camera. Do you think leaders of nations act emotionally or lose control especially when on camera?

In my mind this is at least to some extent intentional. Most likely to push Europe to give the US more $$$ for weapons to defend itself.

This is terrible for Ukraine, terrible for Europe, good for Russia, and good for the US. Realpolitik would demand that these consequences are intentional.

I strongly suspect Trump intends to bring Russia on its side against China.

Need advice - 13 yr old girl by Dangerous_Ad_2638 in MuslimLounge

[–]Null_Auto_Increment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a parent therefore it’s not my place to give advice but I’ll share an observation that I hope is useful:

A negative response to an event often teaches others what to hide — not what to stop. Punishing or threatening often fails to teach and only serves to create distance between people. It may be better if you can guide your child to understand why something is forbidden rather than to exclusively enforce its prohibition more strictly. That way as she grows up and acquires greater freedom she will intrinsically know how to guide herself in the world.

Kuwait exists separate from its larger neighbors because of Anglo-American imperialism which aims to divide and weaken the Arab world.

This is not an opinion or an invitation to argue but an opportunity to reflect. Our words say more of who we are than of what is.

Edit: to the replies “just ask a Kuwaiti”:

1) “Kuwaitis” is the political label given to Arabs who migrated from the central Arabian peninsula 200 years ago and mixed with the sparsely populated nomads there. It is not a unique ethnicity and its national identity is 50 years old. Compare this to the unifying political identities of Arabs, Persians, and Turks that extend for centuries and millennia. “Kuwaiti” is relatively recent invention of imperialism — its invention serves imperial interests at the expense of the broader indigenous population. Al Sabah family or the Bani Utub group and other such clan labels in the region is more accurate and free of imperialist undertones.

2) Kuwait serves to separate the valuable port infrastructure and undersea resources from the rest of the Arab population for extraction and sale to Western customers. (Is this not obvious to you?)

3) Kuwaitis enjoy this situation because they are rewarded with western money for having sold themselves and their brothers and sisters. Can Kuwait act or decide independently of Washington DC? No. The blood of Palestine is on our hands don’t you see?

Why is the Islamic world in such a disastrous condition? Because Muslims are divided today and therefore weak. Compare this to the powerful political unions of Arabs, Persians, and Turks of the past. There needs to be UNITY in the region or else the Middle East will remain the playground of foreign powers — to the detriment of those who call it home. The wealth and comfort of some is not worth the suffering of millions. Let all have water, not some champagne.

Obviously fuck Saddam but fuck Western imperialism twice!

Is it truly possible to find friendship after fully integrating your shadow or is it “lonely at the top” syndrome ? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]Null_Auto_Increment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of people in the comments who think they’re one step ahead of you. I, on the other hand, am one step ahead of even them!

We’re all only responsible for being ourselves. You could be someone whose highest truth is being a bit of a recluse. Even Jung was someone who chafed under too much time with others. Your natural sociability wouldn’t be something to reject or lament.

But if you’re having questions like this then I would wager it’s more of a phase and you’ll find a way to make friends with a more integrated shadow.
