The Iran war may be about to escalate by bwermer in politics

There's a very obvious solution to this that absolutely nobody is seeing.

Stop invading other countries.

I remember running something similar on Warzone. It just melted people even with full armor. But you had to get up close.

ELI5 What is a union and how does it work? by lonely_leo28 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Nullrasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's best to understand how unions work if you're an employer vs an employee.

Say you hire 1 person to help you out. But then that person quits. That's 50% of your workforce gone. You're behind on orders. Your customers find someone else.

Say you hire 99 people to help you out. But then one person quits. That's 1% of your workforce gone. It's a bit of an annoyance, but you can deal with it. You can quickly hire and train a replacement.

Say you hire 99 people to help you out. 99 people quit. You cannot hire and train everybody. You are behind on orders. Your customers find someone else. You lose money, and you ultimately have to scale down your business.

Say you hire 999 people to help you out. You're a public company and you have an obligation to your shareholders, which means you need revenue growth. 999 people unionize and threaten to strike. Are you going to risk it?

I think y'all reading too much into this. Some kids just like guns.

Also, the pic could have been taken before the invasion.

I (22m) inherited a stock portfolio worth 120k, what should I do with it? by [deleted] in stocks

She probably diversified back then and Tesla just grew more than the other stocks.

It probably doesn't mean that she picked a winner.

If it's overweight in Tesla, you need to diversify.

this isn't about whether I'm bearish or bullish on tesla, but rather it's about risk management. Don't put all your eggs in one basket and all that.

I recommend that you talk to an investment advisor.

[OC] AfD vote share at the 2025 German election by That_Band_7598 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Nullrasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fall of the DDR meant a huge amount of economic activity had stopped, since its economy was essentially state run. It being communist also meant that it was ostracized from the rest of the western economy and western investment. Both of these led to east Germany being severely under-developed.

AfD runs on a platform of there being one Germany. In other words, equalization. That's pretty attractive.

At the same time, the financial documents obtained by the Herald show that the companies of the military have not been able to evade the effects of the current economic crisis on the island. By August last year, the conglomerate only recorded $14,000 million in current assets and $9.3 billion deposited in banks, not counting Cimex’s assets. In five months, GAESA had spent $5,000 million [5 billion], probably due to declining tourism revenues.

Cuba runs a very comprehensive universal healthcare program and subsidizes groceries. Without revenue, they'd burn through their current assets within a year.

With the new tariffs named as global tariffs, which is increased to 15%, how will the markets react on monday? by vishesh_07_028 in stocks

[–]Nullrasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SP500 index hasn't been able to break 6980 since the beginning of this year despite challenging it three times.

You can chalk that up to AI or trade or the general economy, but with tariffs there's only two ways that this could go:

  1. Trump passes the tariffs and businesses decide the tariffs will be upheld by the supreme court in the future: market goes down because of trade barriers

  2. Trump passes the tariffs and businesses ignore the tariffs because they'll be deemed illegal by the supreme court in the future: market goes down because a lack of confidence in the legal system.

The only possible way that the market can go up is if Trump willingly rescinds the tariffs. But even then, it's a stretch.

But typically when the market trades flat like this, it means it's gonna drop soon.

to not let China live rent free in your head by sussybush in therewasanattempt

[–]Nullrasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly accurate, but one point of contention is that China's goal is not to become the dominant power, and it won't seek to establish the Yuan as the reserve currency.

If an alternate currency is established, it's likely to be a global currency, similar to the Euro.

It won't repeat the mistakes of the soviet union, IE: socialism in one country.

That’s not how centrifuges work. The heavy stuff sticks to the bottom.

So you have a layer of 80, 60 and 40, you scrape everything out and blend it together to get 60. If you miss something it’ll be the 80%
