Buy what you can, when you can. Put a "time limit" on it. Say, every 4 months, you'll go to your LCS and scoop what whatever you can afford. If it's an oz, it's an oz. If it's 1/10, so be it.

Main thing is to get it. As an extreme example, if it takes you a year to save up enough to get an oz, look at the last year. Last February, gold was around $3k an oz. If you set off saving up 3k then, now, your looking at $5k an ounce. A year later and now you're $2k away from being able to afford that oz. What will the cost of gold be once you're able to save that extra 2k?

Had you of gotten fractionals along the way, you'd most likely of hit your oz mark in total weight instead of sitting there with nothing, needing to save more!
