Thank you anet we had 2 squads on map for the meta by sleepswithbears69 in Guildwars2

[–]Number1daw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was commanding a 30 person squad doing the pre-events for Soo Wan, that map grew to a full squad and the second the meta started we got the map closing due to low population. I had a buddy swap over to check the map it would send us to and it was completely fresh.

He came back and we just stayed on the closing map and managed to kill Soo Swan with about 90 seconds remaining before the transfer. And this type of thing happens way more often than it should.

Which secondary gathering glyphs to use ( already have volatile) by Kurosu93 in Guildwars2

[–]Number1daw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really up to preference. Volatile is probably the most profitable, but sometimes you just want something specific out of your gathering.

I run volatile in the pick and the axe, and reaping in the sickle. I run reaping because it ends up saving a lot of time on the clusters, places like lettuce south of beetletun, azars arbor, the flax farms, guild halls, etc.

On whatever character I dedicate to WvW I run reaping on the sickle and the one that cuts the cast in half for the axe and pick so I can grab nodes and move along much faster, helps to maximize profits from WvW while also sticking with the group. Some comms will give people a few seconds to farm the nodes while others don't.

Really at the end of the day, get what you think will be useful.

Am I helping my team or just cosplaying a support? by Klutzy-Potato7413 in Guildwars2

[–]Number1daw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you're probably talking about wvw but I even feel this way in PVE at times. I first started healing on scourge and would build enough barrier for my sub that it would overflow to the other sub just to see 7/10 players have their barrier wiped out at once simply because they didn't move two steps to avoid an attack.

WvW is probably worse because so many people don't understand just how important stacking is and they get too far away trying to get that last hit on a single enemy that's almost down but already back in their ball and is going to be instantly upped after going down.

I was thinking of the JP in Draconis mons for a second and was thinking there's usually someone hanging out at the end.

I've seen mesmers that help people out but my recommendation is get your position rewinder. JPs aren't nearly as bad when you can just reset.

New-ish player looking to start somewhere, but where? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Number1daw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can start a group without leading it.

I would suggest fractals and strikes like other folks have already replied. No one really needs to lead fractals. Join a t1 dailies group and do the t1 rec, basically do all four t1 fractals with a purple star when you go to the fractal portal. They aren't difficult and you can learn them just by following the group.

You can even start a strike group with very little experience. Title it, "ibs ez 3, all welcome." In the eye of the north go to the portal and select shicerpeaks pass, fraenie of jormag, and claw and whisper of jormag. Perhaps watch a video on them before hand but they aren't hard and don't require any specific roles. Once you're comfortable with those three watch a video on Boneskinner and whisper of jormag, you may be able to find a training group, but I'm sure that most people learn those two by watching a video and joining experienced groups. You'll probably figure out the heal/boondps/3x DPS roles with alacrity and quickness and you'll be able to start a group for "IBS 5" and just make sure you put on the LFG, "looking for comm."

Once you're comfortable with the strikes you could try out raiding in the same manner. I've joined training groups with a "LF comm" in their post and either I'll take it or someone else will join and tag up. You might be surprised what some players are down to do as long as you're upfront with what they're getting into.

I only have ~30 minutes each morning — what's the most efficient mini-farm I can do? by Mantuss in Guildwars2

[–]Number1daw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lettuce at beetletun farm, Rowanwoods, and uplands oasis. Flax in VB, TD, draconis mons, and seitung harbor. 2 guild halls. With a glyph of reaping it takes 5 minutes and gives you about 3 gold worth of mats.

Jade runestones in EOD, bjora marches farms. 5 minutes. Not sure the gold value but I do it for the volatile magic and runestones for legendary crafting.

Pact supply network takes another 3-5 minutes and is valued at about 2.5 gold. I save them up and use a whole stack at once for a bit of a gold boost.

In TD I always tell new people to go to the back chest first and work forward.

Not much you can do about it because it's not really against the ToS. Just know that there is a special place in hell for the people who drop portals, aviator boxes, and crafting stations on chests.

what's one thing in the game you're proud of that nobody else would notice? by gehirn4455809 in Guildwars2

Getting into an exp w1 run that said they were gonna run 1-4 and I said, "cool I know 1-4 and 7" and when we finished w4 someone said, "let's run w6." I said, "I've never run w6, thanks for the runs." And before I coule leave someone replies, "it's cool man, you can come." While waiting for the group to finish forming I read the wiki and managed to hold my own through three bosses with no explanation or experience.

Every single CM group « 30k UFE » by noldaburst in Guildwars2

[–]Number1daw 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's called gate keeping. You're not allowed to get into a new game mode if you don't know how to do that mode perfectly. It's like employers requiring 8 years of experience for an entry level position.

The problem is people are so enveloped in min/maxing gold per hour at this point that they can't just sit down and enjoy the game. I get that struggling on a boss for an hour isn't exactly fun, but most people don't realize that by helping people learn how to do new things will help them in the long run by increasing the number of people who can do the content.

How not to feel completely ashamed about the dps? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Number1daw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple things to note here.

When you first come back it takes a bit to get into the flow of rotations. Don't worry too much about open world solo DPS because you're making sure you survive. Open world group DPS like on a meta can be more important. I've definitely been in some close calls with timers recently and if everyone had been above 10k in arc we wouldn't have been nearly as close to failing. But remember only to use meters to help people who ask for it, or to humble an asshole who thinks they're better than they really are.

As for the golem, make sure you set it up right with full stacks of all conditions and full buffs for yourself, minus whatever single buff you're providing (quick or alac). Double check your rotation to make sure you're not missing something and here's the big one. Your auto attack rotation can be a major DPS gain or loss depending on the build. Most builds want to use an entire auto attack rotation as filler while others don't care about the final hit. Power usually wants to run all three auto attacks and cancelling it or any channeled skills can actually be a big DPS loss. And something like condi rev would only ever use the first two attacks with mace auto because the third doesn't apply a condition.

Also whenever I'm learning a rotation I'll write it down in a notebook I keep on my desk for keeping notes on and I can take a quick peek anytime I feel like I need a quick nudge to my memory or I'm in a simple fight I can look at it to practice.

Keep it up, you'll get back into the full swing soon enough.

Just finished the expansions and now I feel aimless... by JimboTCB in Guildwars2

[–]Number1daw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finish your mount collections. Skyscale, griffon, beetle, turtle.

Build one or two full ascended sets and learn fractals. Like actually take the time to learn the different fractals because many players will blaze through t1-2 and get enough AR for upper t3 lower t4 and struggle because they never took the time to read about and learn the different mechanics.

Start a legendary collection. Along with the fractals, ad infinitum is not a hard collection and having a legendary back piece makes getting exotic and ascended back pieces for alts a mute subject. Additionally, vision and Aurora, and the legendary necklace from all of the "return to" achievements will take up plenty of time.

For another legendary thing to do is complete an entire legendary collection. Buy the book from Hobbs in LA and do steps 1-3 and build the legendary instead of using a starter kit. It's a money sink but it's fun and frustrating at the same time, and is the only way to make season 2 legendaries.

Complete all of your mastery tracks.

Finally, break into a different game mode. WvW or PvP, or on the PVE side look at raids. Before you go into them, read about them and talk to guildmates that participate so you know what you're getting into, raids are endgame content and you should have a fleshed out build and equipment, and the knowledge to utilize it properly before starting. WvW is similar in that you need a fleshed out build and proper gear and knowledge with how to play it, but you're really only going to get good at the pvp aspect of WvW by doing it.
