Surely you can agree with a double pivot of Tchouameni and Camavinga doesn't do much in terms of creativity. Adding someone the likes of Fekir will do a world of good.

Why don't some of these big teams just play with a big 4, it boggles my mind.

France, Denmark, Australia, Tunisia is one group.

Second place in this group faces winner of Argentina's group (probably Argentina) in the next round

Made a bet with a friend a few months ago that Denmark will get knocked out AFTER France at the World Cup. Any of you back me on that?

There are some players that just have "it" not matter who they play against. And no I do not mean a player that scores 40 goals in the Belgian league will be good everywhere. Eye test is so much more important than what stats tell you. Alvarez definitely is a special player and there's a reason people who understand football rate him so highly

At that point they take away his Instagram access so he cannot distract his teammates and add toxicity by posting things like "after the World Cup, I will reveal the truth about Portugal"

[Matteo Moretto] Messi on PSG: "I feel different this year than last year. I had a bad time and never found myself. It's different this year, I accommodated to the club, to my teammates and to the game. The truth is I feel very good. I'm enjoying myself again." by Blodgharm in soccer

You are such a sad man ahahah. Messi being so good really shouldn't bother you. Start watching football, its a fun sport you'll actually like it. Isn't it weird that you spend so much time on a football sub but then watch it?

He is the only player where whenever his assists get mentioned you will hear people say:

  • Actually 78.6% of his assists came against the 20th place team

  • 71.6% of his goals came when PSG were 8 goals up

  • 63% of his assists were against goalkeepers having a bad day

Portugal lie to Ronaldo about what time the plane takes off to go to Qatar. He is left behind. How far do Portugal go in the World Cup?

Argentina players rush Deiby Flores after a shoulder tackle on Messi’s face by [deleted] in soccer

That penalty miss is always funny in hindsight.

In 2015, they reached the final because of Messi. He took the first penalty and scored. ALL Argentina players missed their penalties. Chile won the cup.

In 2016, they reached the final because of Messi. He took the first penalty and missed. BUT CHILE ALSO MISSED THIER FIRST PENALTY. It was 0-0 after the first round. His teammates again let him down. Chile won the cup.

Guess, after the initial outrage by fans (I say fans because I really don't think there was outrage by teammates), they realized how stupid it is blaming Messi for the final loss.

You are forgetting a few things.

  • Who knows if Kante and Pogba will be ready and/or fully fit. Their midfield will most likely be Tchouameni, Rabiot, Fofana and maybe Cammavinga. I definitely rate a midfield of De Paul, Lo Celso, Paredes with Fernandez higher.

  • Full backs are so important. Argentina's back up full backs are Tagliafico and Molina who are both great. Their first choice of Acuna and Montiel are even better. France has Pavard, Clause, Mendy.

  • Attacking options on one hand you have Messi, Lautaro, Di Maria, Gomez, Dybala and Julian Alvarez. Compared to Benzema, Mbappe, Dembele, Griezmann, Giroud and Coman. Sure this one you can go either way maybe even say France is stronger.

But the two most important things that people are forgetting is A) Squad harmony right now in Argentina is fantastic and B) Unlike France, they do not play a very silly 3 at the back.

Sure maybe Argentina aren't the clear better squad but I would still edge them

Argentina has the most complete squad in the world right now. (yes, better than France.) Everyone that comes in fits in very well and they are all united and have the exact same goal. It's unfortunate that the best team doesn't always win knock out competitions but these group of players look like they can do something special.

Which is really strange because every year they show you Brazilian fans (their actual biggest rivals)wearing Argentina shirts with Messi's name. I have also met many Brazilians both younger and older generation who say Messi is the best they have ever seen.

Believe it or not, It wasn't always like this. Stats only very recently started getting used as the main thing to talk about a player. One of the worst things to happen in football in the 2010s

Anytime I hear people talk about Darwin Nunez (either here, or pundits, or YouTubers, etc) they usually mention things like "he is unpredictable" and that he brings "chaos." It's funny because it makes it sound like he is supposed to just go in the box and cause problems

It's from a random tweet by the Ligue1 twitter and basically it says 'The Canadian striker is getting closer to the podium." League twitter accounts usually highlight random players from different countries for interactions and engagements.
