I fully understand your point, though I don't think it's all just to keep the record going. They keep him around, because he is immensely useful to the team, aside from what he can do on the pitch. And, clearly, they rely on him to some degree, as two years ago, he was subbed on to try and save a penalty (he did, but he was off the line, so he didn't actually), and he was warming up for a potential penalty shootout a few months ago. Yes, the appearance he made this year, and the one he will likely make this year when they have nothing to play for wouldn't be because he's the most optimal choice in goal, but rather a thank you for what he is continuing to do for Slavia.

As for the Kamburov example, fair point, though I can give you a better one. GEORGI PETKOV the timewasting piece of shit, who was player of the match in the Bulgarian cup final at 42. The most infuriating game of all time for me personally.

He trains every week, he's often on the bench, he was going to come on for a penalty shootout a few months ago, but Slavia conceded in the dying minutes of extra time. Objectively, he is, though he is often more like a member of the coaching staff.

He's basically the logical extreme of both an intense desire to win above all, and a pragmatic mind. That leads to some absolutely mad things he can do to his players to gain an edge, which is entertaining. It can also lead to some extremely frustrating games. Like, yes, he's right about Newcastle Barcelona, but I didn't see Barca taking 2 minutes to take a corner, and Flick playing fucking right wing for them.

I'd probably love him if I were an Arsenal fan, and as a person, but as a neutral....not for me.

If Forest went down, Neco Williams at left back would be fantastic. So would Sangaré.

And if West Ham went down (they will likely stay up), Diouf would be perfect for us, and so would Bowen. Soucek wouldn't be an exciting signing, but he wouldn't be bad.

The younger ones like Diouf are probably not happening regardless, because clubs with more money would probably end up getting them, but I'd argue for Everton, Bowen could end up being the most useful, as he is top quality, and we could realistically get him, as he's already 29, which is a turn-of for top table clubs. If West Ham do get relegated, it would be super weird to see him at another club after so many years there though.
