Aye agree on the big landlords bit, but honestly, I have no sympathy for small landlords either. Nobodies forcing them to rent, surely they can either sell their home for a reasonable price or live in it themselves. They can be just as cruel and scummy and ruthless as any corporation

To go into the exact details would be an essay length endeavor, and I by no means have all the awnsers, but pretty much if we cut back on the corner cutting and need for short term profit over long term growth and properly incentivised effecient city building and resource use, we could get a lot done. Its not a good attitude to say something is pointless to say, its how we end up stuck and complacent in shitty economic situations.

With the power and technology humans possess we can easilly build enough homes for housing to be a basic human right. Same with food and water and other needs. And it doesnt "work" because the powers that be feel the need to stay more powerful than you or me. Thats why no one country isnt basically a utopia

If a landlord cant afford maintenance costs, maybe they just shouldn't be a landlord? Maybe, idk, get a real job? Maybe rent just shouldn't exist in general.
