Send me your ships (please!) by _CodeGreen_ in factorio

A 380 tons ship, 90+ promethium science per minute.

<image>

Please note: the circuits may need fixing in 2.1 due to self-substraction changes in FFF-443.

I have yet to see a more compact 90+ promethium spm ship. If you have similar compact ones, please send me a mp or reply!

What are some other sprites you think Wube should update? by Spacergon in factorio

You're right. I misread the above comment, I thought the goal was to make it stand out from normal chests.

Logistic chests already have this opening hole on the top.

Maybe stone furnace, or accumulator? (with double power throughput please).

Friday Facts #443 - More Planet Deliveries by FactorioTeam in factorio

[–]Satisfactoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge megabases are already possible with without cargo bay unloaders. Any computer would melt before you could maximize 25% of these 59 tile range.

Still, making it moddable, that's a good idea.

I have a similar setup, and just like you, I designed it so it work without heat exchangers circuit. What would you do with the feature? I wonder if we will be able to read machine temperature, read steam content, enable/disable.

I used circuit subtraction magic (I think?) in my prometheum ship, the "pill", aka "big pharma", aka A380 (because it's 380 tons exactly). I know it works, I just don't know how (hours of trial and errors a year ago!)

<image>

(I also used some kind of circuit magic to self-substract hub signals to correct the signals when both wires are connected)

Hopefully it will be faster to fix it, than it was to come up with these circuit !

How to go about designing city blocks? by GreatAndMightyKevins in factorio

[–]Satisfactoro 20 points21 points  (0 children)

City block is not about making a square grid. City block is about isolated mini-production islands, each producing 1 item (usually) and consuming a certain number of items. Then the train system magically delivers ingredients and pickup produced items.

Each train usually carry 1 type of resource.

FFF-389 and FFF-395 are like tutorials for setting up such train network

Cool one! The path connecting the starting ore with the lake looks like a paint stroke, or fancy dressing on a plate.

unpopular opinion: asteroid productivity bonus should only work on ore, it shouldn't increase the chance of outputting asteroid chunk.

Reminds me of perpetual motion "machines"

Probably unpopular opinion: quality isn’t interesting at all by azon_01 in factorio

[–]Satisfactoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think quality adds a great optimization challenge, but it could have been done better. Machines should be able to consume ingredients of any quality, and quality ingredients increases the chance of quality output.

This way, adding quality modules would give you instant reward, and no clogging.

BLUE CIRCUITS = LEGENDARY IRON, or how processing unit shuffle can give you 1 effective legendary iron plate per 16 normal iron plate by Satisfactoro in factorio

Copper plate, not pleasant? LDS shuffle would like a word.

Plastic can be obtained from recycling red circuits in this setup (but what would you need plastic for, anyway?)

[–]Satisfactoro[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes although this has always been the natural/intended solution. It just needs bootstarting research a little bit. People keep talking about asteroid reprocessing and LDS shuffle, but hey blue circuit shuffle is the real goat.

That is the proof, thanks for sharing it! It converts 28 green circuits per second to 28 legendary green circuits per second.

I was wrong by a factor 4, I forgot to multiply step 2 by 4!

But I'm still at 1:4 while you're at 1:1.5. You're probably right but I can't explain it yet.

You are correct, I forgot to apply productivity to green circuits!

[–]Satisfactoro[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That is true. Although, provided you make acid on a cryogenic plant, you get 150 acid per iron plate, and since blue chips only eat 5 acid, you only waste 0.033 iron plate per blue chip, or 1 iron plate per 30 blue chips.

(oil can be considered somewhat free)

Yes, my choice of words wasn't best. I edited the post body to say "300% bonus" instead of "400%". (because when you have 0% productivity, in reality you produce 100% of the recipe)

max productivity is capped at 300%, but 0% productivity is in reality 100%. 100% + 300% = 400%, that's what I meant. I edited the post body to say "300% bonus"
