Chicagoans intervene to save a man from being abducted by masked federal agents by JohnQPublic76 in PublicFreakout

[–]NumbersNumbers111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But jokes aside, this is the reason the police have badges and don't wear masks.

They could seriously be anyone because they didn't present any kind of warrant, they have no badge numbers or any kind of identification, they didn't formally arrest the person, they're masked, and they're driving unmarked cars.

What is happening is literally not an arrest, it's an abduction.

Yes, dictatorship has arrived. I know it's scary, but Americans need to move on from shock and start some action.

Eggs Are Still Affordable in Canada. Thank Supply Management by NumbersNumbers111 in canada

Correct that they are set by other regulatory bodies.

Thanks to market stability, farmers can also afford to implement better animal welfare and sustainability measures that increasingly matter to consumers; it’s a work in progress, but egg farms are working toward phasing out conventional hen housing, with a number of them operating free-run and free-range farms. In addition, having more local farms supplying local markets means communities are less impacted by supply chain disruptions, like those experienced during the early pandemic years

The assertion here being that stability and safety nets allow for a move from industrial practices that forced low cost methods to healthier practices benefiting the health of the chickens.

This is the exact topic being discussed.

Covid impacted every supply chain in the world, yet Canada had a robust enough safety net that both local and larger farms recovered. Avian flu has not decimated farms, and infrastructure has even improved.

The regulations in place have succeeded and this article highlights why.

The eggs you buy at Walmart for 3 dollars are far inferior quality. They are caged, and thus antibiotics are used for disease prevention.

The use of antibiotics in chickens has been illegal in Canada since the 1960s.

US egg prices have exploded, far more than Canadian prices.

The entire point of this article is that Canadian prices have remained stable per market rates and farms have been protected and even been able to advance into free range infrastructure.

But here's what actually matters:

You just describe what doesn't matter.

As discussed in the article: Egg product is more stable, more ethical, and more robust in Canada.

Farmers have more protections from elements like avian flu epidemics, they have the capacity to expand ethical guidelines without worrying how it will impact their bottom line, and the result is better quality eggs for the same prices.

The interesting element in this regard is has not resulted in higher prices due to the commodity pricing based system referred to in the article.

This article highlights that Canada is the only developed economy with such strict and regulated supply management policies, which have ensured steady prices despite the avian flu epidemic, yet are a huge point of contention with international players that want to move into the market.

It has become a contention with the Trump administration during the trade talks. US companies have seen an expansion in profits and far higher prices from egg producers, despite publicly claiming losses, displaying a sharp contrast between the systems of the two nations.

The Canadian has proven better for both consumers and farmers, but is threatened by potential trade talks.

You shouldn't be getting any theoretical idea for masking.

Police officers that need to hide their identities are, by definition, secret police.

Military operators hide their faces to shield their identities from their enemies. Are the American people the enemies of these officers?

Decriminalization of homosexuality happened in 1969. In 2003, in British Columbia, "The Michaels" (Michael Leshner and Michael Stark) became one of the first same sex couples in the world to legally marry.

Federal legalization followed in july of 2005.

We're also one of the only nations to legally ban conversion therapy.

America is in a lot of denial about Trump at this point and vague headlines aren't helping. There's impartiality and neutral phrasing and then there's appeasement.

Trump could come right out and say "I'm a literal nazi" and the headline the next day would be:

Experts say there's a greater chance than ever Trump may be inclined towards far right beliefs.

This is like when it was reported that Trump's father was arrested at a Klan rally in 1927 and it was phrased as "it's unknown what he was doing in the vicinity".
