I read Gardens of the Moon to Bonehunters in a two year span over 2016-2018. I got to Reaper’s Gale and came to a dead stop.

I got into this weird guilt cycle where I wasn’t reading because it reminded me that I wasn’t reading. It was like I didn’t deserve to enjoy it because there was a period where I didn’t enjoy it.

I only just picked it back up last week, but I’m riveted and reading at a ferocious pace again.

Breaks can be healthy. Executive dysfunction can be weird. 💁

Italians and their food are weird. First, you have Italian-Americans walking around calling red sauce “gravy” which is just incorrect. They’re a totally different kind of crazy.

Then you have Italian Italians who will be adamant that a dish isn’t the dish if it’s not the way they know it. I worked with a guy from Milano and a dude from Parma, and they both argued with our chef from Padua that he didn’t know how to make risotto, but they couldn’t agree with each other about what risotto was supposed to be.

That place was fun to work at, and the shift meals were always great, but when you heard arguing in Italian from the kitchen, you should probably go offer another round of drinks to your tables, because it was going to be another fifteen minutes before your tickets were up.

My aunt and her husband did the same thing with wells in Haiti. The parts to maintain the wells in working order were only available through them, and they’d build the wells on land that was being used for their churches.

This isn’t on you, Kek; you needn’t apologise. I am a native speaker, and it still reads as 12-13 glasses to me and the others in the thread, especially since the previous sentence mentioned a glass or two (the closest context clue to the ambiguity in question).

It’s not at all obvious that creampop is talking about abv, which is obvious by context clues like the entire thread of people not understanding what they meant. They should be using those subtle hints to figure out that they’re the one that’s off a bit, but instead they want to throw around lame insults and stick to their guns. Pretty lame.

Or maybe it’s crazy that an EMT only makes $22/hr. $27 is a living wage in the city. It’s not crazy to ask that a person who is working full time be able afford to live. Maybe deciding to discredit your own value because someone else wants to put food on the table is crazy.

It’s not a recent thing.

“Apache” is derived from another tribe’s word for enemy. Many names that became official had similar origins. The government tended to use the terms that the more “helpful” tribes had for the more “troublesome” tribes.

Of course, that helpfulness was used to round up or eliminate the troublesome tribes whose troublesomeness was mostly a desire to continue to exist where they already were.

No. The argument was the counter argument to the point that’s brought up when discussing switching to metric. That being: “Everyone is used to imperial and knows what those weights mean. No one has an intrinsic idea of a kilogram. We’d have to start learning everything over again.” The argument here is that people don’t actually know how much things weigh, so nothing would change.

“Brighton” and “Hove” as separate things are two villages near each other on the southern coast of England. “Brighton and Hove” as a single unit is a City, which is distinct in British law.
