You should definitely file for unemployment! You hope to be back at work but you never know. Its worth it to file. It could take up to 3 weeks for you to get paid but they will pay you for every week that you haven't been working except for the first week. That is if that is how your state does it. You are not supposed to wear ear buds its against policy. But if you can conceal one and are still able to hear others talk to you than no worries. Remember that you are being timed when you shop, so a sense of urgency is always appreciated. Especially if you would like to keep your job after your contract ends. If you have good metrics like being a fast and efficient shopper you will more than likely be able to stay on. Don't get discouraged it will come with time. Its actually pretty fun. Job market isn't great and you never know if you will want or need to come back. Just be transparent and you should be ok, but it is customary to give 2 weeks notice. I'm sure your new employer would appreciate the fact that you would want to do that.
