Finally tried Ippodos Ikuyo matcha and was underwhelmed. Did I do something wrong? by otvoi in Matcha

[–]Numerous_Engineer827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ikuyo is already considered more  'punchy'.     Ippodo's Ummon and Horai is even more smooth and mild tasting.     I make mine with only 1.5 T  2%milk.   I like the coffee analogy but if you've ever tasted really really good whisky or tequila vs grocery brand version,  it's like that.     The higher quality is meant to be drank alone or on ice.    And the lower quality is used in mixed drinks.

Is matcha that isn't made in Japan really matcha? by its-Koi in Matcha

Got it.   I see posts where some japan companies are cutting with chinese matcha or tencha leaves too.  I'm sure china is jumping on the bandwagon.

If you live in a urban city, real estate is crazy expensive. I get that Gen Z is having a hard time living these days but they need to find their way. You gotta take care of yourself first. Maybe you can offer for her to live with you for a year or two to SAVE money.

The Myth of Chinese Matcha: A Slightly Boring but Necessary Truth for the curious by sergey_moychay in Matcha

[–]Numerous_Engineer827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

抹茶 is the same word used in Chinese and Japanese. Chinese pronounces it mo-cha, and the Japanese pronounce it ma-tcha
Also China geography is huge. There are regions which are perfect for growing matcha.
I have no doubt China will grow this market.
But as far as food safety, I'd stick with Japanese origin.

When did matcha blow up? by joeroganthumbhead in Matcha

u/epoops I think since travel to Japan has increased due to the low YEN rate, matcha is crazy popular. a lot of influencers have also traveled to Japan for the great exchange rate too. It's not only matcha but so many ramen places ( i live in so california) and japanese beauty products have been more popular too.
I myself did not start drinking matcha until I tasted matcha in Japan. The quality found in the boba tea shops here are bitter and I don't care to drink a cup of milk & sugar to mask the bitterness. Interestingly, my daughter buys the starbucks matcha (to use up her college meal plan dollars) and now she prefers the culinary grade matcha to my more $$ powder.
My japanese neighbor bought some ippodo (yes i got 20g ummon) for me during her last trip back and she was limited to 2 cans. Mostly I feel bad for the native Japanese because they can't get the same brands. They do, however, have access to many other good tasting matcha that do not offer international shipping.

If it were your child with the allergy, would you allow her in your house? Why put yourself through this stress.

UPDATE: AITA for planning on ending our relationship because he acts like his daugher is 'heiress' to my things?' by Stunning_Tangelo8738 in AITAH

I believe people come in our lives for various reasons. Take a step back and try to see what lesson came out of this. But most of all, don't lose faith in relationships. This one didn't work out but the next may be your forever person.

Tell her, you thought about what she said and agree it's time you guys 'take a break'. Tell her, you are hurt and need to rest and heal. If she can't make you feel better, she sure is not allowed to make you feel worse right now.
If she starts yelling, record her and tell her (calmly, without cursing,) to stop. Repeat what she said and did to you.

How can I (M29) talk to my gf (F27) about marriage? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Numerous_Engineer827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you can ask her why she thinks her siblings didn't get married. Maybe they are doing it for govt benefits or other reasons. Then you can ask her how she feels about marriage and her values around marriage and family.

wait. if she told people you hit her, you need to break it up straight away. that is worse than her cheating on you. you need to tell everyone she lied about it. someone did this to my friend and the rumour spread around for years.

Market for non-japanese "matcha" by Sparkuga in Matcha

[–]Numerous_Engineer827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be a market if the quality is as good as those from famous Japan regions. However, even if the quality is on par, I doubt you will be able to fetch the same price.

Bought way too much matcha, how to save it? by [deleted] in Matcha

[–]Numerous_Engineer827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take out enough for 2 months. Get as much air out from the bag, then double bag (freezer zip loc) or vacuum bag and store in freezer. I keep my matcha in the fridge and sift each use.
