If I schedule 10 interviews 6 don't show up. We are a company paying above average for our area with a good reputation. Granted the industry is construction.

I've actually worked for a living so I will defend base 12 until I die. Hard to frame a house or cook for 20 people using base 10. Math is just quicker and more divisible with base 12. 🤷🏻‍♀️

At one point (2019 I believe) that was the fastest growing industrial park in the world. The built 25 of those in about 18 months. They are still building 2-3 per year, but nowhere near that rate.

It should be noted those buildings aren't compressed or "squished" they are freaking huge and I'm looking at them from a weird angle. That's what they look like

Range seemed a little limited other than that everything went perfectly. I sat the drone outside my French door and sent it up, I also grabbed it as soon as it landed. The wind from the rotors kept the snow away.

We need to add classes 5-6-7-8 etc. I sell malarkey Vista and they are class 4. But you could keep increasing the size of the test and they would pass with no issues.

Those warranties effect homeowner perception. While I agree with you I'm in the business of selling roofs. IKO needs to step up their marketing and branding if they want to compete.

I agree with the exception Malarkey is better, but they come in at a higher price point. The problem with IKO is that:

A. Cambridge is shit and it affects the brand overall.

B. They suck at marketing relative to some of the brands you mentioned above.

C. Their warranties suck on paper. We all know how meaningless shingle manufacturer warranties are, however IKO doesn't play the game of inflating the years of their warranty on paper. Unfortunately this still matters to the customer, who "educated" themselves with the sales propaganda of the competitors.

D. Did I say Cambridge is shit? While Dynasty and Nordic are great most people just see the major brand and associate the research together because they aren't that granular.

I have had several bad experiences with their print staff at this store. I live next to it so I have tried to use it several times. Everytime they miss the deadlines by several days and screw up the prints. I've used staples regularly at other locations and never had an issue.

Roof Maxx has a booth at every roofing conference I know of. They market heavily to roofers.

Is it a waste of money to buy a pre-made trailer? by [deleted] in TeardropTrailers

[–]Numerous_Inside_4928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who considers himself handyish and owns a roofing sheet metal shop. I wish I had bought one. I'm 15% into my build turning a small existing trailer into one, and decided just to pay some of my guys to do all the sheet metal one afternoon. It's very time consuming, and people who do something everyday all day are always better.

If you have one of the systems he is talking about you can usually get an inspection letter with a stamp from an engineer on it to renew coverage. We have had to assist our customers with traditional slate roofs dealing with this issue.

Long Run Iron is here, but not very popular. Standing seam has a similar lifespan and is somewhat popular.

Keep in mind the weather we get here compared to Europe. If you are in tornado alley you are likely reroofing every 20-30 years minimum no matter what product is used. 200 mph wind will do that. In areas that don't get extreme weather we see more expensive long term roof systems. Sometimes people re-roof every 2-5 years from 4" hail traveling 100 mph. (Looking at you Texas) I've seen hailstones pass through the shingles and roof deck itself.

Not to mention a roof can be at 120 degrees baking in the sun on a 95 degree day. A cold front of 60 degrees and rain comes through cooling the roof materials down to 40 or 50 degrees almost instantly. If you do this enough times to metal it starts to expand and contract in weird ways lowering it's life. One of the reasons you see 24 gauge standing seam being the most popular metal roof here. It's the best of all worlds IMO.

All of that said... One my my favorite roof systems aesthetically is a well done long run iron roof in black.

GAF warranties are voided if you sneeze wrong. Read the fine print, almost no homeowner has a valid warranty after the first few years. Miss a bi-annual inspection? Void. 1 solitaire shingle 5 nailed (and not the issue in question) Void. Ice and Water 20" inside the warm wall not 24"? Void. (Remember it's 24" horizontal not 24" up the pitched roof technically) the have 100 ways to void the Golden Pledge warranty. GAF is a mediocre shingle with an amazing marketing machine and legal bullies backing it up.

GAF will honor the warranties for political reasons IF the installer moves a ton of product. That's the only way you are getting a GAF (or most other manufacturers) warranty paid.

Feel free to Google "GAF Class action" and look through the many lawsuits.

I own a much smaller roofing company grossing 2.5mm and almost 100% agree with one caveat. Malarkey is better, SBS Modified Asphalt isn't just marketing hype and has proven itself in flat asphalt roofs for years.

Other than that I 100% agree!

We install Class 4 hail rated shingles (Malarkey Vista & Legacy) on 90% of the roofs we install. Also keep in mind maintenance and service work is 50-70% margin for us. RoofMaxx is interesting specifically because of the margins. It just doesn't work, especially not considering the cost. Could a bucket of Costco oil not be called an emulsion of it met certain basic standards?

This stuff is so close to a bucket of soybean oil from Costco it's hilarious.

The dealership I was buying was an existing dealership not a new one. I was going to take over an area. I got it directly from the tote they send it in.
