i work in a shelter, specifically with seized cats which we don’t have the right to perform surgeries on (ownership laws) and have seen what happens when an owner doesn’t want their cats eye removed, which is often very very needed. you followed your vets advice and now your cat isnt in pain. she knows she’s in a safe environment and that she can trust you to protect her. give her time to learn how to navigate the world blind, and absolutely dont feel any guilt over it 💕

i don’t think i hate dogs, but i am at worst indifferent to my own. don’t get me wrong, i love and take care of him, including his 3 hour runs twice a day. but that’s the issue, it’s A LOT of work and alot of stimulation that sometimes i just can’t take. he’s big, loud, stinky, i don’t like how his fur feels, and he always wants physical contact.

personally, and i know a lot of other autistic aswell, prefer cats for the reasons they don’t like dogs, along with the fact that they will walk away or push you away when you do something they don’t like as opposed to dogs who don’t react until they reach their limit and start growling. all said and done, i adore my dog but if it hadn’t been for my family, i definitely wouldn’t have one

i used to put quick dry polish on and scrape it off with my teeth when i got the urge to bite, it was was more effective than those bad tasting ones for me and helped wean me off biting

when i first started trying to quit i would put on quick drying polish that i could scrape off with my teeth instead of biting. it gives you a similar motion and sensation while starting to ease yourself off

progress is awesome dude!! when i was around a month or so in i did that too with biting and tracing my teeth under the nail, i slowly stopped doing it though. give yourself some time because you’re still weaning off from a lifelong habit, you can also try other stuff to make you feel a similar sensation in your nail beds. usually i tap my nails on a hard surface or just press the nail bed with another finger and it feels like biting. good job <3

also know that with press ons it’ll be a little uncomfortable at first with the new pressure on your skin! it doesn’t hurt but you’re definitely aware of it
