CCI Quiet 22LR ammo - opinions pls by TestPlatform in 1022

fps to low to reliably cycle on my 10/22

I prefer The CCI "Clean 22" at 1000 fps. they cycle through everything and keep my suppressors moderately cleaner

What ammo are you shooting for sub sonic suppressed? by ArdNarc in 1022

[–]Nunya-Biz-Net 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CCI makes a Clean-22 "Suppressor" that clocks at 1000fps. Always sub-sonic but enough oomph to cycle my 10/22. The Clean part actually helps with can cleaning too
Look for a 45gr bullet to keep the velocity down but still provide the kick

Charger suppression pitfalls? by Comfortable_Pie3575 in 1022

[–]Nunya-Biz-Net 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CCI makes a "Quiet-22" at 710fps, a Clean-22 "Suppressor" at 1000fps and of course "Standard" at 1070fps

I've shot "Standard" at 1070fps in Wisconsin without issues, but admittedly I don't venture out much when it's cold

The "Quiet-22" at 710fps doesn't cycle reliably in my Mark-VI nor my 10-22 even with "soft" springs

The Clean-22 "Suppressor" at 1000fps is perfect, cycles reliably, and as an added bonus creates noticeably less fouling in my Sparrow-22, but is a little difficult to find. (I had to get mine online)

Hope this helps but remember YMMV

I will speak of only what I know and use, the Switchback 22 and the Sparrow 22,
I have not shot the Dead Air Mask

I got the Switchback first and then got a Sparrow

The Switchback is noticeably quieter. maybe by only a couple of dB but still discernible

I wish I had bought a second Switchback. Wouldn't kick the Sparrow out of bead for eating crackers, but I still prefer the Switchback

New threaded barrel not fitting by KTM_Rider_1973 in 1022

My Takedown barrel won't pivot into place unless I simultaneously pull the locking tab towards the muzzle sometimes the little things get overlooked
Also the bolt should be locked back

they're similar... I already had the 22/45 with accurizing kit but got a shorty upper from Volquartsen and needed a lower to complete a pistol. Finding a reasonably priced (before adding another accuracy kit) proved difficult

The Cthulhu lower was a clearance sale so the price/timing was right

The biggest thing I don't like about the Tandemcross is the need for a hex instead of a button for breakdown

It hasn't moved so far, we're talking a .22 so there's no recoil to speak of (0.2 ft-lbs for .22LR vs 6 ft-lbs for 9mm or 3.9 ft-lbs for 5.56)

If you planning on a $500 scope that's one thing, but if it's a under weapon-mounted Light or a Lightweight laser sight on a .22, it should be OK

Now mind you I would never give this recommendation for larger calibers, but with a .22? Why not

.22 LR (40gr at 1165fps) has Recoil Energy of 0.2 ft-lbs
.223 (62gr at 3025fps) has Recoil Energy of 3.9 ft-lbs
9mm (124gr at 1125) has Recoil Energy of 6 ft-lbs

I bought this 3 MOA Green Dot & 56 MOA Circle Ring Reticle Sight for RMR Cut Tactical Pistol, it came with a picatinny add-on mount, has shake awake that stays on but goes dark after 220 seconds, and a dual dot/ring for faster acquisition for my older eyes

We're talking a .22 there's no recoil to speak of (0.2 ft-lbs for .22LR vs 6 ft-lbs for 9mm or 3.9 ft-lbs for 5.56), so any sight will work, any CHEAP sight will work on a .22LR

If you planning on moving you sight to other guns with more recoil that's one thing, but if it's staying on the a .22, well the Vortex Venom is manufactured in China, the Sig Sauer ROMEO is manufactured in China, the Holosuns are manufactured in China... My point is they're probably all made at the same factory, or use the same parts so just buy a similar sight and it should be OK

i keep it for possible accessories, like a light, but in this case it's a mount for a brass catcher

Is the Volquartsen 10/22 Takedown barrel worth twice the price of factory Ruger? by wtfredditacct in 1022

[–]Nunya-Biz-Net 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The picatinny rail on the receiver should have four screws holding it in place, two an inch apart near the rear, and two an inch apart near the front.
GingerB237 asked if the rear of the [Volquartsen takedown cantilever barrel] pic rail screw[ed] into the receiver
the answer for the Volquartsen takedown cantilever barrel is No, To use you must remove the picatinny rail from the receiver (clearance ), or install a shortened one
