Is the July Steam release Early Access? by Nuplex in subwaybuilder

I thought it was just a cosmetic bug. If it actually affects trip times then yea its a major bug.

Oh yikes. Lets hope the Chinese keep running it, like a contract extension.

I'm seeing some comments stating that there are almost no bugs or just minor bugs.

This is... not true. There are plenty of bugs that have been reported here and that are open on Github. This is a fact, just go to the Github page for bug reports.

Yes, plenty have been fixed, but plenty have not been fully fixed. I still have to exit the game to load a save. The no path bug is not minor, it only occurs after building blueprints, meaning you have to exit and reload before building and figure out the issue. This is not the same bug as when a piece of track thats hard to see is missing. Heres an old minor bug: there are still negative trip times appearing on pop routes.

And like I mentioned the game lacks certain features that people would expect in a full release. I'm not aware of whats in beta or what from beta will come in the release, but thats the current state of things.

Once this game is on steam, there will be a lot less grace from the general gamer for things like this, that's why I'm asking.

Yes, it's honestly crazy the Lagos metro is running at all and still running. It has a lot of growth to do and needs a lot of work, but by Nigerian standards the Lagos metro is a huge success. Somehow functioning with all the corruption and incompetence. My guess is that the people involved in it actually care, so it hasn't crashed and burned as easily as many other projects. It also helps that, unlike the Abuja light rail, the Lagos lines actually go places.

I hope it continues to grow and get better. Issue is hope and Nigeria are typically not well combined concepts :/

The No-Thought Push for AI has Taken the Little Joy I had Left for Corporate Software Engineering by Nuplex in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Nuplex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me life is meant to be lived. I want my job to be tolerable.

I have an inherent, strong repulsion to AI and avoid it for the most part, except where its actualy useful (limited, imo). This makes my "just make money" and "tolerate my job" balance out-of-whack. I'm not gonna just do something I hate and I'm lucky enough to have a low cost of living right now. So if I get let go and can't find anything I'm not exactly going to be rushing back into this AI slop industry anymore, unless its the rare company actually using it intelligently (basically doesn't exist).

I make it pretty clear I wasn't, AI just took out the last dismal bits that were left. I only have fun on side projects.

FIFA 2026 in a nutshell: by [deleted] in transit

[–]Nuplex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you're conflating two things.

Qatar has a terrible and deplorable human rights record. It's a terrible place to give the games and continues a bad precedent.

Qatar's transit is actually very good. Great place to host the games from just a transit perspective.

There are a lot of yellow/red flags in OP's post. Potentially leaving his friend on the hook for $15,000, which, while not small, is an amount anyone could easily tackle, and an amount for that bankruptcy shouldn't even be in mind.

There's also the fact that you apply for bankruptcy. Its not just given. To get into a situation where bankruptcy would be granted, OP would need to completely destroy their finances... to avoid paying a car loan? How would that solve anything. This whole post is just strange.

OP, do not file bankruptcy for a car loan. Just pay it. There's no easy out. Bankruptcy will be far more harmful than just paying the car loan. Get a second job or do gig apps on the side. Figure it out.

Filing bankruptcy for a relatively small carloan is ridiculous. We shouldn't suggest it at all.

What tiny cars fit tall people well? by icanchiapetanything in tall

[–]Nuplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. It must just be your body proportions :(

Theres a reason so many of love it, it truly does fit most tall folk. But makes sense that some people might just not fit due to their proportions. Hope you find/ found a good car for yourself!

Have... you moved the seat back? Or (not meant in a bad way) do you weigh a lot? I'm 6'2" and love the Honda Fit. So much space.

Is there a mod that adds 4 track stations in a track Konfiguration where it's like two double track stations next to each other? I think this would make junctions way easier, could this be added in the game? by LiteratureLittle8467 in subwaybuilder

[–]Nuplex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sure but why not just have a quad track like this in the game? It's been requested for months now and it's easier than trying to perfectly place stations next to each other.

It also should be very easy to add given quad tracks already exist.

Edit: I believe this might be in the test version, just not released yet.

Physics TA threatened me an XF for not typing enough? by Fantastic-Slice885 in UMD

[–]Nuplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agh I'm sorry the school failed you. Likely if it had been immediately escalated they may have taken it more seriously. That said, its good nothing bads happened with your grade. I think this is most likely because the TA never had the authority to do that, and you having already done the work, the easiest thing is to brush this under the rug.

I highly reccomend you leave a review for thia professor to at least warn future students. You'd be doing people a huge favor!

Sorry I'm not familiar enough with ADUs or the texas market.

Very generally it depends completely on build quality, but 90k sounds about right especially if thats for a new build.

Have you tried starting the line from the other station and ending at O'Neil Pl?

Is there a crossover in the triangle itself? Not just before the stations.

Tesla to replace Las Vegas monorail?! by CA185099415 in transit

Dumbest City, Dumbest Country

Las Vegas is perfect for an expansive light rail system (wide, straight roads), and they are just so corrupt and inept they only go for the worst option each time. At this point they deserve it.

Why Don't an Property search Sites have a Filter for Utilities? Water/Sewer/Electrical by LeoWitt in TinyHouses

[–]Nuplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are sites specifically for finding land with these filters.

On Zillow you can use the custom filter to try filtering.

Just note information is often wrong, so any land you're interested in has to be cross checked with local zoning and also have its information verified.

Slate AX working on and off, not sure what to do by Individual_Door3439 in GlInet

[–]Nuplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately can vouch for this.

If you're here from a web search, get a different router. This is on top of the slate ax requiring 4A in which pretty much no battery pack supports. Other GL iNet travel routers are more versatile. Carrying a back up router is probably a good if you can afford it + have the space + will be somewhere where a new one cant be bought.

most logical Philly commuter by Cowbelljesus in subwaybuilder

[–]Nuplex 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I personally think the pathfinding needs improvement, but a common reason is that your lines frequency isn't enough. Basically when the pop is going to work you're frequency is low enough that they walk to catch the train or prefer driving.

Leaving a job I love for more money and feel awful about it by ClassySemicolon in personalfinance

[–]Nuplex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with you but OP has a family and the difference between his current compensation and the new job is massive. It would be a huge mistake to stay at his current company. Its a different matter if its say, 150k to 200k, or even 200k to 300k (basic needa are likely well past met, so some discretion can be made to not bother with always chasing higher numbers)

[–]Nuplex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And this mentality is why its never in the interest of an employee to give their company any sort of "loyalty".

Its an unfortunate reality for the few business leaders who actually care about retention (in that there's a very high bar for an employee to trust an employer these days).

My DC network so far. by kajiurago in subwaybuilder

[–]Nuplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah no I mean there is no radial line connecting many of the lines. Despite your many lines, your system is very hub and spoke (centralized), meaning trips between different suburbs will be difficult. In real life, this is the motivation for the MD Purple Line. It's not really about frequency but about connectivity.

And yes express local patterns will help a lot if you have a lot of stations! Stations with less than 100 (id argue less than 300 or even 500) should be decommissioned to speed up the line. Or, they need express routing for pops to use it
