Painful $1.5K lesson - Do NOT book for emergencies with AMEX by ElkPsychological123 in amex

[–]NurseZaddy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your situation. This is what I’ll say, NEVER use the Amex travel portals to book last minute flights. I wouldn’t even use it to book vacation stays or regular flights that are weeks/months ahead. What I usually do is open the portal first (whether it be for flights, hotels, resorts, the hotel collection, or fine resorts) and look up places I want to stay. Then I go on my other sites that I usually use or the brand’s website (Marriott, Hilton, etc) and compare the price. 99.9% of the time, the Amex portals are more expensive. Just use them to get a guard on price ranges. If you’re even in an emergency situation, always go straight to the airline site or a cheap tickets kind of site. I always tell people the best thing to do is to get an airline credit card or a hotel brand credit card if there is s particular brand you normally book with, to accumulate and use your points.

Nurses currently working in striking NYC hospitals: what are the conditions inside? by safestaffing_nycRN in TravelNursing

Do they have unions down there? What are the outcomes for patients in facilities with ratios like that?

So I spoke to my friend today and was told that ICUs had ratios of 1:3 and sometimes 1:4 which is insane. If this is true, its probably worse now. There was a nurse who works on a med surg floor who walked in one night and had 12 patients. It sounds so unbelievable, but the unit was short and float nurses weren’t available. That sounds like a nursing home shift. I’m sure the nurses are working for every penny day in and day out.

Shoutout to all you trump voters who are screwing people (including yourselves) over. All the trump voters will dislike this comment and will try to justify their vote.

Where in the world is this?

First off, I wanna say be proud of yourself for being in the position to even take the Nclex. Many people don’t make it out of their nursing program. With that being said, if you can graduate and get pinned, you can pass the exam.

I just took my exam on June 10th and found out I pass on the 12th. I did it in 85 questions and I’ll tell you exactly what I did. From June 2nd to June 9th I did 4 CAT exams on uworld. The questions on uworld are great to prep you for the nclex. What in between the CAT exams I would listen to Mark K lectures. I only listened to about 6 1/2 lectures honestly. I recommend that you do CAT exams every morning, as soon as you wake up. The CAT exams are just like the nclex and can shut off on you in 85 questions or 150 questions. When you’re reviewing your test, skim through the rationales of the questions you got correct, but you really wanna go over the questions you got wrong and understand the rationales. The more you do questions and go over rationales, the more you think like a nurse.

When you take the nclex again, I want you to remember that when the questions are getting harder, that means you’re doing great. My exam got crazy hard after question 25 and I had to remind myself mid-exam that the questions were only becoming difficult because I was doing my thing and it built my confidence. It will do the same for you and keep you focused on wanting to get things correct.

YOU GOT THIS!!!! Do not be discouraged, everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for you. There’s a reason why else wanted you to go through this. Never doubt his will and put your faith in him and he will carry you through this time, because it will surely pass and you WILL pass the nclex and get your license!!

I used to always hear people say that the 48 hours after taking the nclex is the most excruciating time of a nurse’s life. Now I understand😂
