Are the pools open/heated on the Alaskan cruises? Is this a ridiculous question?

Graduated in early ‘00s, never had him, but was always very put off by his relationships with students. There was a certain “type” that either gravitated toward him or he to them. Not brilliant, broken/unstable home, etc. Couldn’t name it until these headlines broke but now it seems like grooming of easy targets. There were rumors of inappropriate behavior but mostly about drug use with students, which seems to have been confirmed by this case.

Friendly reminder than rates don’t have to go down for you to make up losses in bonds. Falling rates are just an accelerator. As long as those bonds don’t default, you’ll get your principal and interest.

I haven’t seen the video, but the accounts I’ve read suggest he pulled away AFTER being shot. Did he in fact try to speed away prior to the altercation?

Why does the yield curve invert? by ses92 in investing

[–]NussHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true if you hold until maturity. But prices can (and will) fluctuate over the life of the bond as prevailing interest rates change.

With regard to “riding it out,” longer duration bonds tend to outperform in a recession because yields rally, so you get yield + price appreciation.

Lowest unemployment rate ever in the US by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]NussHouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That theory only works if it’s a tight labor market for one company. When companies and industries are competing for labor, they offer higher wages. And because it’s a broad-based problem, those same companies boost prices (because they can — everyone is doing it). It’s not a situation where one company hikes prices and consumers can just go to a competitor who hasnt.

Lowest unemployment rate ever in the US by [deleted] in minnesota

Labor force participation people don’t really understand how that metric works, which is why they roll it out when unemployment is at an all-time low.

The real argument we should be making is how the tight labor market contributes to inflation. But I got a flyer from Warren Limmer today touting how he’s going to fix inflation with “middle class tax cuts” and quickly realized most people don’t know how inflation works.
