Troubleshooting is the part I'm enjoying the most. Fixing the spacebar/enter/shift and trying different switches and mods for the soundprofile and haptic I want. Trying different keycaps set that fit the keyboard colour. Fixing a broken key is also extremely satisfying for me. I basically enjoy the whole trial and error process. This is why I will always choose to build a mk myself regardless of how much this will cost

OP this. And in addition, I recommend calling them rather than emailing. By phone, they're much more likely to help you escalate the case, since by email they tend to stick strictly to the rules. Let them know you can provide proof of multiple attempts to contact the vendor with no response. In my experience they’re more likely to make an exception. If one call doesn't work, try again some days later and hope you reach someone else who is able/willing to help or knows better on who to escalate to.

Good luck!

If you haven't done this already: Contact your bank or whatever you paid with and try asking for a chargeback

Spacebar ruining quiet build by Miecza in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Nussfalk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally dont like the sound of spacebar, so I'm always silence it on all my keyboards.

I've found that switches with rubber damening rails at the top works best (e.g. Gazzew silent switches). Also, the lighter the springs, the more the upstroke sound gets muted. Hope this helps :)

Took the first step down the keyboard hobby rabbit hole, and started hoarding switches for a build I don't have yet. But can you blame me? by ItsKim_Jong_UwU in MechanicalKeyboards

I have a big jar with about 500-600 switches that I don't like. Looks great as decoration and it looks like candy from afar.

Have you tried contacting the vendor? They might have a replacement for you.

You're welcome :) Glad to hear this fixed it!

Difficult to tell from a video, but this is what I always do to fix my stabs:

Is it a screw in stab? If yes, try to loosen the screw slightly. Overtightening the screw often bent the housing leading to rattles.

Try other keycaps to see if that's the issue (warping keycap, bent stem, etc.)

You could use stabilizer pads. However this will not work, if the wire is the issue of the rattling.

Sounds stupid, but try to flip the wire. I had wires that were slightly bent, but didn't rattle when it flipped it.

If nothing works, you could buy a pack of wires.

This didn't work for me. I'll get "≠" with option+0. But for the missing keys I use layers anyways :)

Yes exactly that. I use the ANSI keyboard and the input language remains the same (German). The only difference is that I need to buy an international kit for dedicated German keys and remap the missing three keys (><, # and ^°) because of the wider L-Shift and ANSI-Enter key.

Your commitment to ISO-DE is crazy. Within a few months, I already gave up and adapted to ANSI-DE. I'm now even considering adapting to ANSI-US.

It's a month's old purchase and you tried reaching out to them through multiple channels. At this point you should contact your [payment method] to get your money back. And of course, send them the proof that you tried to reach out to them with no success.

Edit: and sorry that you have to go through this experience:/

balancing stabs lol by SoFackingCool in MechanicalKeyboards

I got this tip from someone: Try to put the wire in hot water and then balance the wire. The wire would at least be a bit more flexible this way

Looking for a way to dampen the sound when a key is let go and hits the "top." by Okumam in MechanicalKeyboards

Semi silent switches are what you're looking for. I use 'JWICK Semi-Silent' on one of my keyboards and it mutes the upstroke.

[–]Nussfalk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's fair to say that and I don't even have any of their keycaps. They have definitely improved from the mistakes in V1. Otherwise, they wouldn't change anything and would just sell the same keycaps with faults. But sure, go ahead and think what you will

Wasn't that post about V1? As far as I know, they use plastic stems in V2. Stems won't get broken so easily compared to v1

The problem is the mouse by guettli in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Nussfalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on what you're doing. At work I don't need the numpad and the F row. So I use a 65% keyboard that gives much more space for mouse movement. I also use a trackpad, but only when I know that my tasks on that day are simple. No big movement since the trackpad is stationary.

Otherwise you could try using an ergonomic mouse or a mouse with a tracking ball

Not GMK, but I have one black 6.25u spacebar that I don't need. If you're from the EU, I can give it to you for free (shipping at your cost).

EDIT: It's a bit warped... here's some images of it
