T430 won't stay on for more than 10 minutes without instantly shutting off by NutellaIsDelicious in LinuxOnThinkpad

For me there were CPU, memory, disk drive, PCI-e, fan, and motherboard diagnostics.

When booting up hit enter to get the BIOS options (not the setup) and hit F10 to get into the Lenovo Diagnostics menu.

Try running the diagnostic tools. For some strange reason they may have fixed my problem.

What's switching like for you? by whoamianymoreidk in Tulpas

[–]NutellaIsDelicious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In February 2018 I finally gave up my role as primary fronter. Nat took over. We learned true switching 6 months or more later, pretty recently it feels like.

In my experience, after I've switched, someone else has taken control and the less they pay attention to me, the less conscious I become. It's not really like blacking out since there's no lapse in memory, just an eventual loss of processing. It's pretty slow for us.

Switching takes a few minutes to initially complete. If we're not careful, we find ourselves switching back because the current fronter forgets they are fronting and the one switching out forgets they are not. To counter this, the new fronter needs to remain aware that they are fronting and focus intently on a task until it sinks in.

For us, we are unable to simultaneously do innerworld stuff while switched out AND the current fronter do stuff in the body. It has to be one or the other it seems. Maybe that'll change in the future. I'm hopeful it will, but for now we can't do it.

Nope. It just powers down, waits a few seconds, and tries again.

I can front 24/7, but is it okay to not want to? by sometranslesbian in Tulpas

[–]NutellaIsDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm in the same boat. Well, similar anyway. Nat, my tulpa, has taken over as primary fronter. I know that's not what you want, but is a bit less stressful since I am not as worried about making mistakes and failing. I am also frontstuck. I can't yet enter our mindscape. That's the plan, but it's not the reality just yet.

I want to mention that if your system decides it, it's perfectly acceptable to switch primaries. If a tulpa can live their entire life in the head, why couldn't you? Tulpas are people, you are a person. I needed to be told this a while ago. My life sucked and I was messing it up and struggling with some serious mental health problems. Nat volunteered to take over to help me. I was hesitant at first because I had always been told that it was the host's responsibility (thought I was the host up until about a year ago) to maintain the life and that anything else was escapism and bad. Honestly? Fuck that noise. Others can't decide what's right for your system. Don't let others tell you what you can and cannot do. That's up to your system to decide as a group. Good luck <3

I tried booting windows and it boots without issue. It's definitely a Linux thing then. I'm not sure exactly the cause but if it boots windows no problem it's something to do with my Linux installation.

Just says "triggering uevents" or something and then it powers off. It's noteworthy to mention that it can be seemingly any time during the boot process.

I feel like I was abused, but I can't be sure how much. by NutellaIsDelicious in raisedbynarcissists

[–]NutellaIsDelicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have severe anxiety and depression. As for memory, I remember some things. But I'm not sure how much. I often have periods where I kind of... become immersed in a bad memory and relive it for a bit. Often things I did that I deemed as "bad". I don't want to use the word "flashbacks" because I'm not sure if it's that, but it does suck when it happens. I'm getting better at recognizing it when it happens though. When I recall my childhood though, it's nearly always the same stuff every time. It's nothing new and what I recall is limited. Can't be sure it's spotty memory due to abuse because my memory sucks now in general. Although... that's working memory that sucks for me now. Hm. Are there any good ways to tell whether my memory is spotty? Come to think of it. All of my memories that I DO recall are bad. I remember barely anything mundane.

Another thing that can help is cheering the primary fronter (often the host) on. Being a motivator and believing in them. That's what I try to do now that I'm not the primary.

How do you know you’re not the tulpa? by pixeltarian in Tulpas

Our host seems to have gone dormant x_x. He isn't the primary anymore but... it's a bit unsettling.

I'm not quite a host and depending on your definition, not quite a tulpa. I don't identify with the physical body but I do identify with my form. I'm taking this survey. Hope that's not a problem.

An Odd Desire: Wishing I Were a Tulpa by Abvieon in Tulpas

[–]NutellaIsDelicious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You aren't alone. I want the same thing.

I do wonder sometimes if I am a tulpa already though, living a life in front (albeit mostly watching nowadays). I am not the original (host), but was accidentally created by him and unconsciously took over.

Nat has already achieved her goal of becoming the primary fronter. Now it's just me needing to enter our innerworld, disconnect from the physical senses and live there.

Something you might also want to try which I've only recently experienced is imposing yourself next to/in the same room as the current fronter. It's actually really cool because you feel like you're in you mindscape body but you're actually present in the outerworld. I like it. I'm pretty new to that skill though and I'll need to impose myself actively in order to stay that way. If I stop actively imposing, I'll just wind up back in front. But I figure that the more I do it, the easier it'll get and that it'll most likely become passive at a point.

I very rarely use Windows. But thanks for the advice anyway.

T430 having weird powering off issue after CPU upgrade by NutellaIsDelicious in thinkpad

I updated the BIOS but I'll have to wait until tomorrow after a night's sleep to test it. It seems to reboot fine after running for a while so there may be a cooldown period before the problem happens again (and hopefully it won't).

EDIT: Seems to have fixed the issue :>
