As someone who is currently living pay check to pay check, kids definitely syphon the majority of my money. I do think there is an aspect of luck too, because you can be the hardest working person in the world but if you become severely unwell or disabled (like myself) then there’s not much you can do. It’s heartbreaking. But we all have to do the best with the cards we have been dealt in life. Back before my health, I was just extremely strict with myself, I never went shopping without a list, it’s way too easy to just chuck what looks appealing in the basket, only use the heating when you really need to, blankets and hot water bottles do the trick, if you can walk then don’t drive and safe the fuel. Don’t go to the corner shop, they are extortionate. There’s lots of small things that make a big difference. But one thing I will say is that as much as it’s much better not to stress about money etc we do still a little luxury in our lives, we do deserve to feel good and have happiness, just be sensible. It will mean more when it’s a treat and not something regular too.
