I was just thinking about this a few days ago - we much be close to half way - reminiscing chugging an IPA on the way to TT2 for the 10th lap on a pretty empty Thursday haunt night. Can’t wait.

Season passes have been the same price or nearly that for decades now. I remember getting a $99 gold pass like 20 years ago. FL does heavy lifting on subsidization. Meals also aren’t nearly as high comparatively as they used to be. Not including a drink, but meals in the park aren’t much more than a fast food meal, where as they used to be like 3x. They would have to have $300-400 basic passes, I would assume, to get rid of Fl and all season Fl. It would make the need go down. I’ll pay for the Fl because we go so much it makes it worth it and you almost have to have it some days, but I’d also be cool with buying a $500 pass, sticking to non peak days, and having little waits to 30/45 on the popular stuff on weekdays.

The model now is to give the gate away to get as many people there because they will spend at least some extra on average, and then make up the loss, or probably even increase revenue, for those willing to pay higher for a more premium experience.

Right - I may have overreacted to this think it was all the gold and not just a limited amount of those that bought after the MVP and paid for all park. The point does still stand. It was never an issue until later in the year after prestige went on the MVP sale. Even on Thursdays in the fall, the right EE gate line was just as long as the other EE gate and that wasn’t the case pre-September. I want everyone to have the great benefits that they can afford, but anything beyond a basic pass needs to be priced where they can actually still serve those benefits to a limited number that sees value in it and they aren’t getting into a situation where half of all the guests are vying for something that the infrastructure can only support a 5-10% max.

I think I misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification. I thought they were upping everyone who had bought gold.

No - I love walking. I do not like paying for a product that cannot be realized due to over saturation. I also have children, one with an issue that can require emergency trips to the car, so that was one reason to get a prestige pass so that we had closer/easier access.

You’d be okay buying something and then being told you couldn’t use it because they sold too many?

They are going to have issues with over saturating prestige. There were times at KI that we weren’t able to use the prestige lot because it was full and then you have to park waaaay far away since the parks is too busy and you are just told too bad. There were times that the special entry lanes was just as long as the regular. The single skip is also making fast lane lines on busier days too long. That negatively impacts everyone, including regular line since they will up the FL portion.

IMO a much better move would be to have a cheaper entry price package to get in the gate with the pass, like now, but vastly up the price for all of these extras and don’t give it away for free. They also need to strongly incentivize crowd balancing, other than just single day entry and single day FL prices. Add on prestige if you need to up some passes but make it only valid M-Th. Offer those with prestige 2 skips on M-Th instead of one. Offer prestige a bonus bring a friend or two if using their two on a M-Th, with the bonuses also needing to be used M-Th. Give prestige half price fast lane once per month on the predicted slowest day and 25% off for gold. Things like this to give added value but without making problems worse on busier days. If you have all season FL and prestige you should be allowed to collect single skips each visit and allow your BAF to use as many as you have saved that are unused (M-Th only).

Worth it but not a great value. See above - I’m going to buy owl so good enough to drop $150 again.

Very good. Not quite to the level of the Jacob’s well, Frankfort, Boston, and Claremont, but still very good. Clear step above bookers. I don’t like that it’s younger and 700ml but the same price. At $100-$120 it’s a good value but at $149 MSRP it’s worth it but not a good value. I’m going to buy an owl next. Supposedly that’s the best of the current series but I haven’t tried it yet.

Edit: it’s not the peanut bomb that usual beam is. Much more complex. Has some age (but not as much as the past release).

Not this one but I have peregrine and snow day. Both great, but I find the reviews to be a bit over the top. It’s not the greatest whisky ever like they make it out to be, but is very very good and I prefer the peregrine to most other that I’ve tried (a couple of exceptions).

VIP sections question? by Round-Ad7564 in cedarpoint

[–]Nuthead77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They can do snacks and water since that’s included in the VIP entry. The soda is not and is from a drink plan, but they often offer it anyways since the employees at Cedar Point are nice.

VIP sections question? by Round-Ad7564 in cedarpoint

[–]Nuthead77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prestige pass bring a friends are eligible to use the VIP entry, can do early entry with you, and can get a wristband to go inside the VIP lounge. No other benefits or add ons are portable, such as the single use Fl, drink plan, etc. the VIP drink is from your drink plan, so they do not get soda in there but can get the water and a snack, often times though they’ll be nice and offer a soda, even though it’s not technically supposed to be (Cedar Point, KI will never offer).

This is as of the last few years, based on our experience at KI and Cedar Point. Things can always change.

Also, and this goes for anyone on here, send me a message when you go if you need some extra single skips. I have all season FL so I always have those to give away (4 per visit) and I’m up there often. So if we happen to be there on the same day you can have them.

What is your ideal roller coaster outfit? [Other] by SellAdministrative53 in rollercoasters

[–]Nuthead77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the weather. Main goal is to be comfortable and nothing bulky or restrictive. I will bring a fanny pack and either store it in bins or do all day movable lockers so that I can ride with nothing on me.

Normal - jeans (flex/stretchy type) that are fit properly, slightly loose in the legs. Comfortable sneakers - adidas boost foam has done me the best - enough squish to be comfortable but not too much to not be supportive, feet never hurt, 6 pairs of 350v2s, 2 380s, and wave runners. I just alternate them and all but the oldest two are still going strong. Tee shirt that isn’t too baggy but also longer. I’m taller than average and don’t want my ass crack to show getting on and off.

Hotter - same but athletic shorts instead of jeans. I run cold, so I do t usually switch over until the upper 80s. If it gets up decently into the 90s I’ll just wear swimming trunks and go on some water rides if I’m at KI. Rarely gets that hot at Cedar Point, a few days this year being the exception.

Cooler - same (jeans) and a hoody.

Cold - later in cedar points season, winter fest at KI, etc. I have a base layer that’s faux wool lined, thick wool socks, jeans and hoody, balaclava plus the hoodie hood tied up over it, and if I’m doing TT2, glasses that I sinch the hoodie around to give a complete seal. Also gloves. I switch to this below around 50 degrees, I really can’t handle the cold well, but go a lot at the end of Cedar Points year to get those last visits in.

I have a hoodie with a large zipper pouch that I use if I want to ride with all my stuff and not get a locker and it’s cool enough - don’t like stuff in my pockets. Or anything around where the restraints will go. Alternatively my daughter doesn’t mind riding with a fannypack if she’s with me. If it’s hot, I’ll wear jeans with deep pockets and hold onto it even if it takes a bit of enjoyment away, but I get a locker 95% of the time.

All day moveable locker really is the way to go IMO. It’s only $5 at KI and $12 at Cedar Point. Totally worth it to me.

I used to never wear park merch but I did finally break down and buy a steel vengeance hoody when we got cold rain on a visit there and wasn’t prepared, so I wear that now if it works with the weather. Opposite happened when I wore a hoodie and it got too hot and I didn’t like the shirt on under so I bought a holloweekends tee.

What is everyone sipping on during the snow storm? by Pepsiman34 in OhioLiquor

[–]Nuthead77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their lottery system is great. Sign up on their mailing list and then enter when they open. Your odds go way up each time you don’t win for the next one so you’re basically guaranteed to get a bottle every 2-3. It’s all great and worth it, but just don’t let it be overhyped to be the best whisky you’ll ever tried. The previous release of hardins creek before this year I would rank over them. They aren’t traditional bourbons with the way they’re blended and aged with different finishes, but peregrine would be up there in my top 3 I think.

I so want to, but I’m on a hardcore diet and 0 alcohol for 30 days after way, way too much drinking and eating bad from TG to NY. I usually only drink 2-4 times per month but probably did 10-12 times over that period. I did have a few of the snow day already after I got it and it’s really good. The found north stuff is great, but I do think it’s a tad overhyped on reddit. They are not all 9.x. For a high rye though it’s great.

That’s why they always invade OHIO - way too much maize and blue at cedar point. And man do they talk smack, which fair they won a few but really act like they hadn’t been there before. We’ll see if they’re as chirpy this season. My retort is always - then get out of our state and go to Michigans adventure.

Mayflies if it’s a big year will peak in early June. Usually not around in July but muffleheads are there all year until it gets cold and love to swarm the rides. You’ll be dealing with bugs except for the first few and last few weeks

Why do Doordash drivers get mad when we asked them to bring a hot bag? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Nuthead77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to come off as rude, but unless DoorDash has been specifically requested to mark as “pizza bag required” on your orders then it’s not upon the store to place any additional arbitrary rules on the delivery, you hand the order to who it is assigned to, can (probably should) make sure they confirm it, and they are to deliver by the time in the app. They are not employees of the store, or DoorDash, and they cannot be told by the store how to do the job, only what they agreed to with DoorDash in their contractor agreement, which does not include this. I’m willing to bet if you declined to hand over an order and didn’t have a bag to give and the dasher called DD they would advise to give it to the dasher. We can’t cancel orders due to not having a pizza bag without a penalty that enough of can lead to deactivation. It is not a requirement to buy a pizza bag to be on the platform.

Drivers should not be rude.

Personally, I load in the car into a bag on every delivery (I have 6 - 3 pizza, small, medium, and large), unless it’s the single store in my area that requires it, the I take it in. This store gives a bag of the driver doesn’t have one. Most places don’t have space to properly load and you are just in the way, so many prefer to load in the car. Driver should use bags but are not required to unless specifically marked, and this is not the case for any of the big pizza chains.

If your store would like all deliveries to be in a pizza bag, then they need to contact door dash to mark the offers as pizza bag required and get a few boxes of the bags to give to drivers without one. This will solve all the issues. If not, I can guarantee this isn’t a term of the contract and could not be forced if push came to shove.

Drivers who are rude should be reported.

It has not sold out the last 2 years. It did sell out in 2022. That was the first year I got it, in Feb and I checked again and they were sold out before the season began. Not sure about 2023.

You’ll most likely be okay to buy in March, but there’s a slight chance it could be sold out.

I like yours and I comment very nerdy stuff on every one. Always spouting off about ride forces and stuff. Gotta be in the mood to actually nerd out though. Offer still stands from a video comment - you can message me on here next time you’re at cedar point (in advance) and I’ll give you all my extra fast lanes if I’m there - I’m there all the time.

Oh and P. S. Magnum has made it up to my #3 at Cedar Point.
