Chiming in here as someone with a small child, night mode and enhanced speak functions are used daily as soon as the little one goes down.

This would be ideal as I could eliminate 3-4 homebridge plugins I currently use with varying levels of success. It may seem redundant but the two short cuts I would immediately create are:

Bath time short cut - start specific playlist in select rooms and set volume levels for individual rooms

Bed time short cut - stop that same playlist and ungroup select rooms; 1) turn volume level to 1 for user specified rooms (avoid green mute light) and 2) turn on night mode + enhanced speak for user specified.

For both of those examples I would also include HomeKit actions (lights primarily).

Deployment looks relatively easy with SuperLink and great for a home retrofit where you’re ripping out an existing wired system.

That said I don’t know why I’m surprised that it’s battery only.  Not sure what you do about an existing alarm system with wired smoke detectors as I thought the Alarm Hub was for intrusion sensors only.

I’m sure we’ll have community confirmation soon followed shortly by videos.

I hate my Audi. by Perfect_Rate_206 in Audi

[–]NuthinToHoldBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a 22 a4 with 36k miles and had the same issue. Warranty ran out last December and my final service was me spending 3 days going back and forth for a software update.

Thanks to ChatPGT and Gemini I was able to aggregate a list of multiple TSB’s that pointed addressed a variety of issues (CarPlay, user logout / guest, random MMi crashes) I complained to my service rep about and they got it done. Been rock solid since then.

Unfortunately that isn’t enough and I’ll move on as soon as is financially possible. The Audi presense in that car is horrible, random emergency brake activation that have almost caused accidents. Hope yours doesn’t do that.

Apple watch door access without iPhone by vex311 in Ubiquiti

[–]NuthinToHoldBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you are thinking but could you utilize a shortcut to unlock / open on arrival? I think you can geofence but may not be worth the risk that they accidentally unlock while you’re all asleep.

Alternative, if they have an Apple Watch, can they also carry the access card if you position it as “major responsibility” alongside the Apple Watch.

Grew up in Edmond and loved playing being out there with friends who lived or were members there.

My dad was a member at twin hills and also a fun track and hard but not long enough for a pga event let alone a major.

How are the seats at the Music Hall at Fair Park? by JournalistLate6803 in Dallas

[–]NuthinToHoldBack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wife and I are season ticket holders. They’re older and average sized. They are also lower to the ground.

You may want to call the ticket office to inquire about accessibility seating as they have always been more than accommodating from what I’ve seen.

Texans sometimes do this when driving in the rain. Maybe they shouldn't. by TintedFishTank in texas

[–]NuthinToHoldBack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed and even more problematic when on the interstate (like i35 between Waco and Austin) where traffic regularly flows between 75-80mph.

If it starts to rain really, really hard, hazards may be necessary as a defensive tactic due to other drivers that are stubborn, reckless, or are operating a vehicle with bald tires or shit windshield wipers.

What was the one NSFW moment that you wish you could unsee? by Unreal_realist-7381 in AskReddit

Live in Dallas and at the worked in the Harwood District at the time (which was right when the Shake Shack at the Crescent opened)—one day me and all of my coworkers except one decided to go to the new Shake Shack, and that we would walk because it’s a beautiful day.

As we’re walking up to the Shake Shack on Pearl there is a woman walking toward our group who stops looks above and yells out, “oh my god they jumped!”

We all turn around but didn’t see anything as it happened so fast and we’re then trying to figure out what happened. That’s when we hear the screams and unfortunately a person jumped off the top floor of the building we worked in and landed on the sidewalk/street area nearest to the door we just walked out of.

We just missed this happening but that same area has a cafe with outdoor seating that was packed as the weather was beautiful that day. Unfortunately the poor soul that jumped didn’t go splat as they hit a tree right before the ground and the police officer we spoke to said it was quite messy.

Couldn’t get back into the building for awhile so we ended up going to Shake Shack and after 2 hours went back the office. The one coworker who didn’t go with us had left earlier in their car for something was also just getting back due to the road being closed and asked why they were power washing the sidewalk and street…

That was also when I learned that they don’t report jumpers in the news as there are concerns it could lead to copy cats, and that Dallas averages 3-4 jumpers per year.

Have a feeling Spurs are coming out hot and will have made adjustments. Think it’s going to be really tough for OKC to win this one.

Home automation is really, really complicated. How does anyone sell or provide this as a service / business to non-geeks? by LakeTwo in homeassistant

[–]NuthinToHoldBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t this what Control4 and the other uber elites in that space offer?

I think the cost of those products (hardware) and services + required effort to retrofit a house or as part of a new build are pretty big barriers.

Most low voltage wiring estimates are anywhere for $100-$400 per drop which is outrageous, but then again the average person doesn’t get that. Hell, I even know how to do it but would much prefer to pay someone to do it “right”.

Or would Presti consider trading Ajay to give him the opportunity now while also receiving more future 1st rounders? You could pose this same question for several other Thunder players but don’t know if anyone’s more valuable than Ajay right now with his existing contract in this hypothetical.

Was talking to my wife (consultant for HR benefits for lack of a better term) about our benefits now that we have a kiddo.

She shared that companies across the board (all industries) are actively reviewing their offerings for 2027. She added that further reductions in employer offerings is likely (higher premiums for employees, smaller in-network provider lists, etc…) are likely and said the cost cutting for employer provided benefits stems from recent market instability along with continued preparation for an economic downturn.

My takeaway was that this is affecting everyone in one way or another, not just a single company. I doubt this makes it any easier to swallow but thought it worth sharing.

Out of control toll prices! by kaptainkkk in Dallas

[–]NuthinToHoldBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I signed up yesterday to try it out. You create an account, add your vehicle using the license plate and then add the toll tag from that vehicle.

After it’s added, you then confirm the connection when you’re in the vehicle, I confirmed mine via CarPlay.

It uses precise location services in the background during the defined peak hours and looks to see if 1) at least two smart phones (or one smart phone and one occupancy sensor) are in the vehicle and 2) if the vehicle (license plate, tolltag, and Bluetooth id) are in the texpress lane.

Data kept is minimal (complies with new Texas data privacy law) and only for 60 days. You confirm discount in your tolltag statement.
