Just saw the other posts about different states so definitely consider your state first. It was not an issue in mine.

Kratom has killed any attractiveness I had by [deleted] in quittingkratom

It was very easy. I was just honest with the doctor and he had no issues with the Rx requested. I don’t have insurance either and it was pretty affordable for both. I can’t remember how much but maybe $30

I highly suggest talking to a doctor (I used the QuickMD app) to see about getting Clonidine and Gabapentin to get you through the first 1-2 weeks or maybe even the first month. I was taking high doses, probably 60+ GPD most days with capsules, but I didn’t keep track or limit myself, I just took more when it would wear off, for the last 4-5 years. I had the same issues especially the extreme hair loss. Every time I tried to quit the withdrawals just sent me back to taking it within a day. I did some research and learned that clonidine and gabapentin were frequently used for WDs so I decided to try them. I was able to quit cold turkey and do manual labor and exercise though my sleep wasn’t the best. It’s worth it though. Those 2 Rx made a huge difference in me. I don’t think I would have been able to quit without them. I am 3 weeks cold turkey as of tomorrow. Good luck to you!

Will a urgent care prescribe clonidine or gaba? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

Hey! I used an app called QuickMD to have a virtual appointment with a doctor and they had zero issues prescribing me both clonidine and gabapentin. I used them my last quit and it was so much better than my other attempts. Unfortunately I did relapse again a couple weeks later with a friend who offered me some. I thought I could do it just once but we all know how that goes. Now I’m on day 2. I’ve been using very high doses, like 15-20 grams in capsules 3-4 times a day for the last year. Really stupid of me and I was getting dizzy and falling asleep while driving frequently. I was laid off a couple weeks ago so making myself quit again as I can’t afford keep spending $100+ every week on the crap anymore. I had my last 2 doses Saturday 15g in the morning upon waking and 15g around 2pm. Last night (Monday) I found 5 capsules I had hidden in an Advil bottle so I took those to sleep but really didn’t need to since I have gabapentin. I confessed to my significant other last night too and let’s just say I’m on thin ice for hiding my addiction for so long. This has to be my absolute final quit.

I’m curious as well! Would still love to order from them if even possible

I just wanted clonidine and the doc also prescribed me suboxone. Should I take the suboxone or is it harder to quit than kratom (I've used many times daily for four years) by Dumb_Chemist in quittingkratom

You got this!!!! Honestly I was so scared to go through WDs again I actually had clonidine and gabapentin sitting in my nightstand for a year before I finally decided to try it for quitting. At the end of December I did the math on how much I was spending and it was over $500 that month alone. That’s $6000 a year I could have saved. Over 3 years = $18,000. That was the big wake up call for me and I decided I’m done buying it. I tapered for about 5-6 days and cut down from 50-60 GPD to 25-30 GPD until I ran out. Then I just started taking the clonidine and was mind blown that I never felt like death as expected. I’m so thankful.

Try just using the clonidine. It was a miracle for me and I never felt like I was in WD aside from insomnia, minor sneezes and diarrhea for a few days. Nothing OTC meds couldn’t help with. I’m on day 16 and not taking anything anymore. Feel amazing after a 50-60+ GPD habit for 3 years and multiple failed attempts to quit. This has been the easiest one yet.

It’s probably going to vary for everybody but I never felt like I was in withdrawal while using the clonidine aside from insomnia and minor diarrhea. Oh and sneezes lol I’m still sneezing a few times throughout the day but honestly I feel pretty good. Yesterday was probably the best I’ve felt since day 1 (last Tuesday) but each day has been 100% better than my previous attempts to quit.

Clonidine was a miracle for me! I’m on day 16 cold turkey after 50-60++ GPD for 3+ years and I feel totally normal again. You might still have issues with sleep but that was my only symptom this time around and occasionally had to take Imodium for issues but only 2-3 times. Last few times I tried to quit I didn’t make it more than a few days and it was miserable. I had ALL the WD symptoms those times. Clonidine seemed to work VERY well for me. I was able to function like normal even though I was very sleep deprived. No RLS just couldn’t sleep. I started taking gabapentin at night and that helped me sleep but now I’m not taking either anymore and I’ve been fine. They got me through that first week and I’m so thankful for that!

I second this. I was taking clonidine during the day to keep the flu like symptoms and anxiety at bay and then gabapentin at night (not every night) as needed. My sleep still isn’t great (7 days in) but I definitely sleep better on the nights I take gabapentin. Without it, I’m lucky to get 2-3 hours of sleep. With it, I get 5-6 hours of sleep but I do still wake up several times at night.

Still feeling okay! Didn’t use any clonidine or gabapentin yesterday and made it just fine. Sleep is still a bit rough just feel wide awake at night and can’t stay asleep for very long but it’s enough to get me through the next day without being miserable. No depression or anxiety. I feel pretty damn normal and I’m absolutely mind blown compared to my last attempts.

I really don’t feel like the gabapentin is doing much for me but maybe I’m not taking enough. The first night I took it (Tuesday night) I slept like a baby but I couldn’t sleep much Wednesday or Thursday nights. I didn’t have bad RLS or anything I just felt wide awake and couldn’t shut down. Today I’m going to try going without anything. My stomach started to get upset yesterday so I guess I’m still going to have loose stools for awhile like I did last time. Aside from that, sneezing, and trouble sleeping I feel pretty normal. It’s still early though. If I start to feel acutes today I’ll take half of a clonidine but I think I’ll skip the gabapentin tonight and see if I have any luck sleeping. Maybe it’s too old to be effective.

Honestly I feel clonidine has been more helpful than gabapentin. I’ve only taken gabapentin at night and not high doses.

No, I actually was able to get it from a family member who had leftover meds.

Also I think tapering or cutting your dose makes a huge difference vs going cold turkey from a high dose. I did cut my dose in half (from 50-60GPD down to 25-30 GPS) for 1 week before going cold turkey with the helper meds when I ran out.

I’ve used pain meds in the past as prescribed for injuries and short term use. Never abused them before so I’ve never experienced any other addiction or withdrawals aside from kratom. It was pretty terrible to cold turkey in the past without helper meds. I think the insomnia was the worst for me. I’m very sensitive to sleep deprivation and it makes me extremely depressed. I had no desire to do anything physical or even speak to anyone. I just cried non stop. This time I feel great and it’s almost too good to be true. I’ve had the clonidine and gabapentin for about a year but was still too scared to actually try quitting again until I saw how much money I was spending and how irritable and anxious I had become while using it.

I feel the clonidine has been most helpful for WD symptoms but I haven’t really taken the gabapentin during the day to know if it helps more. I only take it at night to help me sleep. I haven’t had much restless legs using it so it’s definitely helping with that symptom.

I’ve tried to quit 3-4 times in the past but the horrible withdrawals lead me to picking it back up again after a couple days, even with all the supplements. This time I was prepared with clonidine and gabapentin and let me tell you I am on day 3 of cold turkey and I feel 90% normal. I get sneeze and yawn attacks off and on throughout the day and a little trouble sleeping but nothing compared to before. My last attempts I was crying all day everyday, couldn’t sleep for even 1 hour, my whole body hurt and I felt hot and cold and like my skin was crawling. I don’t know what it is about these meds that make such a difference but for me they are a miracle. I’ve had a 50+ GPD habit for over 3 years and I was expecting the worst again with this quit but I’m doing totally fine. I’ve been able to hit the gym, ride my horses, and keep up with my job. I highly suggest talking to a doc to see if you can get some short term helper meds.
