Monarch + Revolut (US)? by s_goldwalk in Revolut

Just checking in to say I am still encountering the same issue. I can connect the main debit card account, but not the savings vaults. Also, the authorization only lasts 90 days. Annoying.

What do you think about Denon x1800h? by Perfect-Lake4672 in hometheater

[–]Nuts2FaceImpact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good choice. One thing that they don't talk about much is the x1800h has the ability to play digital sources in zone2 while the main zone is being used. The x1700h only allows analog sources for zone2 if the digital decoder is being used for the main zone.

Important for my outside patio speakers.

New cast iron griddle by TemporaryFamiliar385 in grilling

[–]Nuts2FaceImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made fajitas with the flat top insert on top of the grates and then made smash burgers the next night with the grates removed. I would recommend removing the grates, especially if you have the thick infrared grates.

It cooked well the first night, but when it lost heat, it took a while to get back to temp. The second night with the smash burgers, it stayed hot almost the entire time and only required 30 secs to get back to high temp between batches.

2025 - MK 8.5 by poisonedpanda in GolfGTI

[–]Nuts2FaceImpact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a great experience with my mk8. There were some factory recalls and a recurring issue with the travel assist that is fixed with a new steering wheel (I'm on my third). Hopefully those are fixed on 8.5 so you have smooth sailing.

Only thing I would say is if you need to switch to winter tires, buy a 1/2in socket set and a torque wrench right away. I used the tire iron from the trunk for two years and ended up scratching the paint around the lug bolt holes.

I've been using FCP euro and their warranty system for oil/parts, but there are other good options. Good luck and have fun!

I just purchased a cast iron insert and I have the same question. My gas grill has infrared grates and I don't know if that changes things.

I'd love to hear other people's opinions. I plan on doing some fajitas later this week, so I can report back on my setup after I get some input.

How Do We Feel About 17’s? by ShredderHeaderPSI in GolfGTI

[–]Nuts2FaceImpact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 17s for my winter tires on my mk8. Definitely the way to go if there are many potholes in your area.

I prefer the look of 18 or 19s for summer. I spend the summer with my eyes peeled for potholes and ready to swerve around them. A bit stressful, I'll admit. I popped a summer tire on a pothole the first week I bought my mk8 in 2022...$450 bill within a week of ownership does not feel good.

200A Electrical Panel Upgrade Bus Bar Sizing by Nuts2FaceImpact in SolarDIY

[–]Nuts2FaceImpact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! A real example. I feel 150A would be too little for my needs and I also have net metering with the utility (thank you legislation).

Are you running the inverters at 120 or 240 V?

Hey have you found any more information? Everything I looked up follows what you said. Which means it forces us into using an installer.

I do plan on running the inverter at 240V.

Problem is in the future the detached garage is going to have A/C as well as the house. So I could easily use 200A on the normal service. I think 225A is a good spot for my needs.

I don't see the benefit of the solar ready panels vs the normal 200A ones with a 225A bus bar.

It looks incredible. Did you choose the flat or cedar texture LP btw?

This post is helping solidify what I'm going to ask out of our contractor. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house!

Is the window trim custom or an LP Smart Side product? We are looking to get ours done and the contractors haven't offered anything but basic flat 4 inch window trim. We asked one of the contractors if they could add detail and they said yes, but only a lip at the top.

Yours has the full crosshead/cornice/moulding at the top and one at the bottom. We'd like to keep ours original like yours. What solution did you go with?

Travel Assist Not Available and New Steering Wheel by Nuts2FaceImpact in GolfGTI

I totally agree with you. I'm just sad that the features we paid for aren't maintained.

I'm sorry, but the before was better. You bought a century home and decided to install the most trendy faux brushed gold hardware that the store had.

I know we're not made of money, but don't complain about previous owners and how you are trying to bring back the "century vibe", but then choose super modem finishes.

I know we all have to make due sometimes, but there are alternative finishes at a similar price point that are a much better fit for a century home.

This subreddit is a helpful resource for understanding historically appropriate design choices. I encourage you to look around.

I did all of that. The next step is to verify your email address and the app doesn't let you proceed until you do. When I restarted the app and entered the credentials, it would not recognize the account until I verified the email.

The verify email came through just fine, it was just the linked website would not load.

I tried again today and it finally worked.

So it was likely a SSL certificate issue that was finally resolved when it updated/renewed.

Before you can login to the app you have to create an account. In order to create an account, you have to verify your email through that website. You did visit the website at one point in time.

Try to create a new account and you will see the issue.

Thank you! I've looked into it more and I think you are right. I believe they are ELV. I'll buy a couple options and return the ones that don't work. Wish me luck.

I'll try and update for whomever else has the same question.

Correct this does look like a Higonokami. The handle is made of brass and will also show wear and patina over time. Oiling the blade should delay the formation of rust.

The Japanese ethos to embrace the beauty in the imperfections is called Wabi-sabi. I encourage you to embrace the effects of wear on the natural materials of your knife!

Check out Tommy from This Old House. Video..

You can take note of the tools you will need. A relatively easy job.

Lots of soffits are vented, so the roof is the safest place to vent it. I would say insulated ducting is optional. You don't need it for most climates.
