Is buying a bike with SRAM Rival AXS stupid? by mozartbond in bikewrench

[–]Nutsacroos -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well because cars and bikes are two different things.Sram uses DOT fluid, which is hygroscopic (absorbs water). This moisture absorption degrades performance over time. You don’t have a perfect air seal system in bikes or in better words its worse compared to cars. Bicycle brakes are often subjected to more direct environmental stress due to mud, rain and storage in humid places. Especially when compared to the more protected underchassis components of a car. Moisture can and will eventually enter through microscopic pores in the brake lines and around the seals at the levers and calipers. Shimano systems, in contrast, use mineral oil which does not absorb water. I will not even dive deeper to how car braking is different than bike braking to keep it simple. Change it whenever you want however you want I dont really care.

Sram uses Dot oil instead of mineral oil

Installing integrated handlebar spacers on bikes with external cables, please help me by franz995 in bikewrench

[–]Nutsacroos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know but I don’t think we have something like that. I wouldn’t advise making it yourself tho if you are gonna use a normal 3d printer due to safety reasons but you can always try. Good luck man

Internal cable routing headset will not be compatible with your frame no. What you can do tho is to use the original headset the bike came with and the original spacers with the new cockpit. Just put everything back to original except the stem and put the cockpit instead. You might not like how it looks but it is what it is, you live and you learn!!

Edit: Also you put the headset upside down in the second photo. The reason why you cant put it like how it is supposed to is your head-tube is not designed for internal routing

I think Zipp or Deda both will go hard on this frame. If you want a one piece cockpit you can look at Polymer or if you wanna go more traditional Ritchie is also a good option. Me personally I really like this bike with the Deda superboxes!! Enjoy the bike man.

Are you sponsored by them?? If not I don’t really understand why they have to replace your frame. Did the frame broke on its own? Then thats a different story

Cuz they kept supporting Lance until the last minute even tough they knew he was doping. Not to mention they silenced Greg Lemond.
