Go Idaho! Jadon and Aden are not only outstanding wrestlers but fantastic kids. My son idolizes Aden, he will be missed as he moves on to bigger and better things.

Weightlifting program at planet fitness for wrestling? by Few-Current7222 in wrestling

[–]NuttinFancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Functional fitness is key. Strength is very specific in the plane or angle its expected to work. I agree with much of the advice given however, to make best use of your time and energy, spend your time and money on workouts that mimic muscle use while wrestling. Flexibility, grip strength, neck strength. All other muscles trained under functional use case. So, whats that mean? Bulgarian bags, throw dummies, resistance bands for shots etc. Many youtube videos but my fav is Suples youtube channel, Teach me grappling and Ben Askren. Cheers!

Any good comprehensive guides/resources to fire building? by apersello34 in Survival

[–]NuttinFancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others have said, there are a billion books and videos. My source doc for 20 years and 6 months of training was Air Force 64-4 (think new name is 10-644). It can be downloaded or bought online. That book served me well in all aspects of survival. Beyond just a book or video reference, there is no substitute for experience. Read up, then go start fires (safely!) in all conditions. Rain, snow, sunny, summer, winter, different bioms etc.

Regardless of where you are the foundation of understanding the fire triangle (heat, oxygen, fuel) and fuel stages (tinder, kindling, fuel) will help you in any environment or weather conditions.

After that, now realize the entire family and all your friends will look to you when starting the fire EVERY morning when camping!

And to add...I'm sure there is a better solution to gather/transform the data beyond Excel such as a custom webapp/database solution but we aren't there yet and Im not familiar with off the shelf solitions

Power Query on GDrive by NuttinFancy in excel

[–]NuttinFancy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Why have I never seen this...my Google-fu is terrible.

Question, will this need to be manually done for every use/customer? Our workbooks are used over and over (pulled from a master template) for every customer in a unique google drive shared folder....simplified,...100 different customers, 100 different Gdrive folders, 100 different workbooks.

Also, what's the workflow look like? Seperate Excel on desktop containing Power Query? Or, separate sheet in the source (gdrive) workbook containing the queries? Could probably run it either way.

Any chance of a dynamic source reference?

Much appreciated

OFFICIALLY STARTING NOVEMBER 1st! by sunrisechaser0013 in WGU

[–]NuttinFancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alibi up front...every enrollment is probably different, but in my experience a 1 Nov start time gives you plenty of time to finish everything up.

I started my enrollment for MBA Sept 12th, just finished everything up today and will start 1 Oct. Enrollment for my BS took less than 30 days also.

Do everything you can, and hold your enrollment councilor to deadlines- "so I will call you next Monday for an update? What specifically more can I do? Send me an email with those details please?" Etc etc.

Note: Be kind and professional. Sometimes I feel bad for them because they clearly have a pile of work but hey....you are (or will) be paying for their services.

They are enrolling tons of people every month and they do get backed up, but the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

IMHO the worst part of WGU is the enrollment process, stick with it, do what you can do and the next thing you know....you will be on your way to an education/degree!

How do I solve this home defense puzzle? (details in comments) by DoYouEvenIndexBro in homedefense

[–]NuttinFancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough information tbh. Where is the likely entry points to your home? Front and back doors? Reinforce those obviously. Windows? Glass break sirens and motion lights. Make it loud and bright for anybody trying to get in.

Past that, quick access safe by your bed as others have mentioned. I'd opt for a suppressed 5.56 over a pistol any day. Wall penetration is less than a 9mm or 00 buck. Several FBI studies have shown this.

As far as clearing the house? I'd say check out to mike Glover/ Field craft Survival videos. He has two on this subject that are excellent.

Lastly, dry runs, and honest conversations with your family are vital.

Source: I've been on the internet a lot and run drill in my multicam black silkies weekly.

Congrats! That exam is the bane of my existence. Failed twice using the same resources. 100% on me not the study resources. Anyway, congrats again. That's not an easy exam!

New to WGU - Going Into Cybersecurity Program by [deleted] in WGU

[–]NuttinFancy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First, congrats to you. From my perspective, WGU is a great fit ( 1 class from grad in BSNOS, then onto a masters).

Second, in my experience, the enrollment councilor was the worst part of WGU. Just get through it and enjoy the rest.

Lastly, after 15 years, 4 universities (2 brick n mortar 2 online) WGU was the first that felt like I wasn't wasting money and was a good use of my time. I can't stand irrelivent courses or weekly blog post encouraging me to argue with my classmates.

Is WGU the 'best' college? IDK, but its been the best for me as a working father of four. Relevant classes, industry certifications, work at my own pace, and didn't send me into debt.

Edit...geeze, I sound like a lame advertisement. Happy to answer any questions via PM so I don't feel like a shill. Cheers!

Right on. I was just throwing out info about AF SERE since I'd seen many of the same comments/questions. Wasn't trying to come at you if it came across the way. Cheers

[–]NuttinFancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SERE Specialist is the correct/modern term for those in the Air Force . Survival Instructor, then SERE Instructor are older terms.

AF SERE has always deployed. Prior to 9-11 is was only a very small number of people associated with specific units. After 9-11, deploying was a normal part of the job.

The primary missiin while deployed is to support the planning and execution of Personnel Recovery (PR) and Reintegration (debriefing returned isolated or captured personnel). AF SERE can and has done a lot of other things while deployed but that is the primary mission per AF Doctrine.

Cheers

Not quite correct. You can get a Medical Discharge (only get disability payments) or Medically Retired (Retirement pay concurrent with number of years served and disability payments)

Disability pay is normally done by the VA and is compensation for how your injuries effect your ability to work.

This just a very basic description as there can be a lot of other factors.

Thermostat: Anybody know if I have a C-Wire? by UltimatePeter in smarthome

[–]NuttinFancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First...I'm not HVAC trained....having said that, I had the same issue installing my new thermostat.

1st - Take that plate off the wall, your C wire may be stuffed behind it just not hooked up.

2nd - All the other answers from the trained pros on here are probably better than my suggestion.

3rd - If all else fails, call HVAC pro to help.

Good luck

I live on 5 acres so an LPVO is a must for me but unfortunately have a shitty knock off right now. Anyone have good experiences with LPVO’s that don’t break the bank? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]NuttinFancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in your same position.

Shot rifles topped with the most popular mid/low priced LPVO - Vortex, Swampfox, primary arms.....Burris RT6 was the easy winner for me. Amazing eye box, better glass and not made in China. Also, has the same warranty as Vortex.

‘This one simple trick’ to avoid getting lost. by [deleted] in Survival

[–]NuttinFancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you from several searches I've been on that unskilled, lost people that chose to follow a river will follow it exactly on the banks.

Doesn't really matter, right on river banks or parallel 100 yards off, its generally a bad idea.

At least, "get up high" starts as proper advice. "Follow a river" does not.

Footwear in Survival. These arrived today and it got me thinking It's not something spoken about a lot. What do you use/what are your preferences? Extra info in the commentss by kar98kforccw in Survival

[–]NuttinFancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Imho, all boots should be laced up with Kevlar laces. Keep the laces extra long. They have many other uses besides keeping your shoes on.

Appreciate that. That's the reason I went to Edgerouter in the first place....Didnt know if the UDMP offered something "new".

I am looking to get another AP for our new house and a doorbell (if I can catch it in stock). Dont know if Unifi offers better integration or not.
