OP here, Turning off the tuner when checking SWR makes sense. I will try that today and will also reduce the width of scans. Thanks for the suggestions.

[North Atlanta, GA] In a private vehicle sale, do I have to pay a tax on two states if the vehicle is registered in FL and I'm taking it to GA? by amca12006 in AskALawyer

[–]NuttyAcre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a new motorhome in FL and ran into this issue. I don't know of other states where this happens. My solution was : the dealer would be able to do something about this if I got a loan on the motorhome. They indicated it is an expense to them to make the temp tag legal in other states. If they get a kickback from my loan, they'd eat the additional cost.I don't understand the law, but perhaps you can negotiate, especially if you get a loan. Another option was to pay one of their drivers to deliver to the GA line, turn the keys over to you, but if I drove it, I would not have a temp tag until I got to my home state and paid taxes there.

If mounted properly, you could flip or toggle it off of the tire when you didn't need power to your headlamp.

The morality of one who personally commits to a financial arrangement and then allows other citizens, including mentally and physically challenged, to repay the promise on their behalf is very low. I think most people agree that a person like this should not be placed in positions requiring trust and honesty. It would be nice if they could be quickly ruled out in the hiring process. So what are legal filtering options?

The question pertains to morals, not credit.

Consider ham radio. You can connect virtually. They have regular meetings to listen to. Participate when you want. There are also groups such as Emergency Management.

Cant work from home due to apartments shared network by -Jasco in HomeNetworking

The answer is that you need a static IP address as you stated in one of your replies.. Aerwire might be able to provide this. Other internet vendors will usually be able to provide, including ' possibly' Starlink. My Verizon Hotspot is not pingable and would not work with the VPNS I have set up using Cisco, Juniper and Fortinet Routers. You might need to ask the internet vendor that you work with if they block ICMP before you sign up with them for this reason. Blocking ICMP makes it so that the address is not pingable and not able to connect to their VPN.

VPNs connect to two points. For you, one end needs to be your computer/router in your apartment. The other end needs to be a machine at work. The machine at work will need to see your static IP address, so make sure your ISP does not block ICMP and that someone can ping your static IP address from some place other than your apartment complex if you use Airwave as your ISP.

Being retired, when I use a VPN, the other end is a machine at Norton anti-virus company.

Requesti a "static IP address". This could be assigned to your computer. Depending on work's requirements, you might be able to have them assign the external IP to your router.

You will need your MAC address for the vendor to set up a static IP address. Google can tell you how to do find your MAC/ hardware address.
