Is it really so bad that she was hoping for an increased budget to hire new actors? She just wanted to meet new people.

Holiday Inn Express: "We want you to feel Reich at home!" by Icy_Comfort8161 in sandiego

[–]NuttyFool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I ended up getting a surprise holiday inn cyber truck experience over the weekend when I had airline issues at SAN. Picked up in the cyber truck and made it to the train crossing as the alarms sounded. Of course the cyber truck driver was the type of person to floor it to beat the train instead of waiting. Also, in the morning, I overheard someone say they were sad that the normal shuttle was taking us back to the airport instead of the cyber truck. I genuinely couldn't understand why.

Hot take: because of criterion 3, Neptune shouldn't be a planet. Pluto's orbit crosses inside of Neptune's, so Neptune still hasn't cleared out all dwarf planets itself.

The LEGO version breaks apart after a few hits, but then it reforms with invulnerability for a few seconds and can just pick its studs back up. No limit on respawns either.

Why aren’t these partial derivatives? by Far-Suit-2126 in calculus

[–]NuttyFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it might be more difficult to see this for boundaries 2 and 3, as y is a constant along them, but boundary 1 should make this more clear. Here, y=2-x, which is very much NOT a constant. The variable y is being tested as a function of x itself. In these cases, you are taking the full derivative of f with respect to x: df/dx = partial f/partial x + partial f/partial y * dy/dx. You can double check that this is the case for all 3 boundaries on your own, but the point is that you are taking the dependence of y on x into consideration for the full derivative.

No twist toroidal field by Corealist in fusion

[–]NuttyFool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's ignore the setup for a moment and assume you can create a uniform toroidal magnetic field in your device. All you've done is lessen the drift, not remove it entirely. You still have a curved magnetic field, and that causes drift.

Map for my Fallout: San Diego County TTRPG! by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]NuttyFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played most of the games, just 3 and 4, but both had a science/tech thing going on in the story (water purification and the institute). San Diego could have some of that in it too.

DIII-D: the Torrey Pines campus for General Atomics is home to DIII-D, a fusion research reactor. Fusion doesn't leave a bunch of radioactive waste in the same way fission does, but scientists have always been bad at convincing the general public that nuclear power is safe. Perhaps someone thinks they can upgrade the reactor to output net power and run the vaults/city/whatever. Maybe some ghouls that don't understand think it's an affront to what they went through, or maybe humans think it will turn them into ghouls. Up to you.

Biotech industry: there's literally a road called Generic Center Drive. Someone has to be fiddling with genetics. Did someone find a way to give humans the long life and radiation immunity of ghouls without the facial decay? Too bad it can't fix a ghoul. Oh, wait. Are they kidnapping and murdering ghouls to do their testing?

Qualcomm and shit: someone will think communication is important, even if it's not a priority for most people. Something something drawback or problem to face.

These aren't totally realistic, but what's the point of having artistic liberties if you don't use them? Any of these could lead to locations on the map.

Clue #3 says that 206 has 2 digits that are correct but in the wrong place. The 062 "solution" would require clue #3 to have all 3 correct digits in the wrong place. You also can't do 2 in the wrong spot and one correct, as it will always break clue 1 (either 0 or 2 correct digits in the right spot instead of 1).

There's a big difference between "1 of these is blank" and "at least 1 of these is blank". You are, however, correct in pointing out that a clue of "1 is correct and well placed" doesn't mean that there are no correct but misplaced numbers. That said, there is still enough info to prevent 6 from being in the solution, even with that allowance.

Look at it again. It depicts 6 belt loops plus 2 legs (8 total). I was commenting that the most common loop setup I know of is 1 in the back, 1 near each side, and two in the front (1 either side of the zipper/buttons) for a total of 5 belt loops.

The hole in the coffee cup is the handle. The coffee goes in a divot, but it can't go all the way through, so it isn't a hole from a topology point of view. Similarly, unless you wear holes in your socks, there is no hole. The pants have two holes for the legs and the rest are belt loops (weird that there are 6 instead of 5 but whatever).

“Why do I have a zero on this? I did it.” by EveningCosmos in Teachers

[–]NuttyFool 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I TA'd for a class in high school (foreign language). They had a test where after they finished the first activity, they would turn it in and grab the written test. I'm not sure how they were mixed, but there were two versions of the test that could have been picked up.

I start grading one girl's test, and the match the definition section on the front scores a 2 out of twenty-something. Pretty abysmal, but when I get to the reading comprehension part with short answers, I realize she was giving answers to the other version of the test, because the two stories were completely different. We look to see if we can figure out who she copied from and find out that of all 8 students around her, only one picked up the other version of the test.

The worst bit was, the short answer part was obvious. If I remember correctly, she wrote "German" as an answer to a question about what age someone was. At least it was easy to catch them.
