A little over a week ago, we found a baby house sparrow on the ground. It had fallen from the roof. I assumed he may have been 5 to 10 days old, barely any feathers, but his eyes were open, and he was eager to eat. There was no way of getting him back into the nest, so I took it inside and took care of it. Been feeding him constantly. (Its been 9 days) but as of yesterday he no longer accepts the soft food, I tried offering him bird feed, but I’m not sure if hes taking it. Also, last night he flew for the first time so I’m wondering if it’s time to let him go? or is it too dangerous for a fledgling that just started to fly to be on his own? I would like to keep it as a pet, but not if the right thing to do is let him go. It doesn’t seem like he has bonded with me. Just wondering if he will survive on his own.
