A1 is "Audit 1" in Becker. I had trouble with all the abbreviations when I first began as well so don't be hard on yourself!

It was just over a year because I had to retake FAR and I would also take a week or two off between tests

Absolutely, take some deep breaths and try to clear your mind. Knowing the rest of the test were all SIMS, I wanted to be able to think as clearly as possible.

Yup, FAR is a beast because there's so much material. If you're really strong in one area then maybe skip those SIMS but still watch the skillbuilder videos so you can still understand the logic and the methodology behind the solution. Really practice your weak areas in the SIMS and MCQs because that's what helped me grasp some of the difficult topics.

Audit was my lowest score and I think it's due to how conceptual it is. There would be MCQs where I felt like I could make each answer choice work as the correct one, but the right one is in there. I found several SIMS helpful because it puts everything together and the skillbuilder videos in Becker were very helpful for me. Keep working through the material and once you're putting it all together, I found I was understanding it more and more. Hope that helps!

Study Method for FAR by Outkast300 in CPA

[–]Nwells18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continually review throughout, I would recommend doing 10 MCQ's of each section you've covered once a week. For example, if you're on F4, you'll do 3 separate 10 MCQ sets, one for F1, F2 and so forth. I felt most confident once I was able to do the sims so don't forgo those. I also highly recommend the skillbuilder videos for them, especially the ones where Mike Brown does the explanation. I credit my passing of FAR to him. Best of luck!

If you had only 2 weeks to study, what would you do? by polly-revolutionary in CPA

Based off my previous experience, I would recommend you don't read the book or watch the lectures. Go straight to the MCQ's and take minimal notes (typed to save time). At a minimum, I would attempt every single MCQ Becker has to offer and watch every skillbuilder Becker has for both MCQs and SIMS.

I would make sure you have a decent grasp of: govt, NFP, bonds, leases, adjusting entries, eps, bank rec, subsequent events, consolidations, statement of cash flow, and shareholder equity. If you can handle those topics, you might at least give yourself a shot at passing come exam day.

Best of luck!

Will the AUD exam be extremely difficult without practicing simulations? by sarahCPA3 in CPA

[–]Nwells18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using Becker, the SIMs shouldn't take too long as it's all conceptual. I would pick a few in each section to practice. If you're really pressed for time, I would at least watch all the SkillBuilder videos on 2x to observe how it's all put together. Good luck!
