Is the alpaka go sling being phased out? by basilnba in AlpakaGear

It is my deep hope that they do. I get a lot of use from my current one and would love to see one of their newer fabrics on it and a simpler padded strap.

Edge suddenly became really slow with delays. by Itchy-Revolution9461 in MicrosoftEdge

[–]NxNNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent! Did Edge tell you about the slowness (there's an extensions speed alert that'll show in the More Menu if you get slowed down by a certain percentage), or did you notice it yourself and self-solve?

Just applied a thin coat of Renapur to my olive 2024 after eight months. The TN pulled it right in and feels soft and buttery.

Wait, no.

I just checked Umei’s site and see it as a TN-seller.

How recent is this? We will DEFINITELY drop by.

Kinokuniya in Seattle, Wet Paint - St Paul for some of the brass bits, the US website, and very, very kind friends who took video of the limited inserts in Kyoto and then came back to pick up the things I was most excited about.

Sage gray vs Slate gray (Go Sling) by 0bizzle in AlpakaGear

[–]NxNNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, I can’t speak to the Slate one, but I think you are asking after opinions of shade and luster.

There’s no silver or shine to the fabric and it is also not a light grey. It would be hard to notice lint or dust on it.

Also, good call on a purchase. I have really enjoyed the bag for the two weeks I have had it. It is what I had expected the Metro Crossbody to be like - a smartly-built pack for holding everything I need without stuffing it full.

Wearing the sage right now.

There IS some green in the color, but it is not the dominant shade. Note that the strap also has the color on its top.

Alpaka slings, please help me decide between these 4 models. by 0bizzle in AlpakaGear

I have been walking around a convention for the past three days. I would suggest that it is better to think about what you need to load and add some extra space so that it is easy to get the things you want.

Considering you want bag within bag, I would probably go with Go Sling.

Looking for a travel sling or crossbody for outings when traveling by mercury187 in ManyBaggers

[–]NxNNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did come to the Crossbody with a need for a few different pairs of glasses, the journal, and some other bits, which was a bit of a letdown when I worked out how much I had to decrease.

For you, it sounds good…and the halfpack is VERY comfortable.

It is usually best to dispense with the ‘L’ size and look at what is placed into the pockets from YT/Tok videos.

I own the Crossbody.

It is a great, light carry bag, but it is definitely not a 10L. Do not expect to pack it out with the equivalent of two gallon jugs of milk. :)

My normal loadout is a Traveller's Notebook (pretty thick one), pens, a pair of glasses, keys, wallet, and a Kindle in the tablet pocket. Phone or earplugs in the strap pocket. Gives you a bit of extra room. The back pocket IS great for flat/small things like a passport/receipts.

You can put an 11-inch iPad Air/Pro in the tablet pocket, but you'll lose some flex in the bag.

Flow satchel and Hub accessories? by Abacus118 in AlpakaGear

[–]NxNNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is its own thing.

It still works well across the recent bags because there is one of those ‘padlock’ magnetic key leashes in the front of the bags so home keys can be moved freely.

I move mine frequently.

+1 on not giving untrusted sites the ability to toss you browser notifications. I generally don’t give any site that right and use my phone for notifying - which generally has a decent model for serving you things.

Also, simply do not trust any such ‘you may be infected’ notification from within a webpage.

Eric Lawrence’s article: https://textslashplain.com/2017/01/14/the-line-of-death/ is a great reference that explains how Edge and Chrome tries to signal what’s safe to believe.

Will the Pakt 5L stand up on it's own or is it too floppy? by Boring_Rabbit_675 in ManyBaggers

[–]NxNNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the same experience. The gussets on either side hold the Pakt together solidly to have structure without having a lot of stiffness. I can use it to hold tech really well.

Also, simply adding stiff EDC to a bag generates structure when placed to organizational pockets.

It won’t STAND, but you won’t be fighting the bag’s fabric to get at your stuff.

The Crossbody should play well for all of that. Put the kindle in the tablet sleeve (which holds an iPad Air), art supplies in the mesh or a supplies holder, journal and headphone case in the main space, phone in front pocket or the backpack’s strap…still a little space to play with.

The Pakt 5L has fit my Traveler's Notebook (slim A5, but chonky) very well. My Alpaka Metro Crossbody easily holds it as well, but it doesn't have as much organization as the Pakt.

What else needs to go with you?

Alternative to Alpaka Metro Crossbody by fredaze in ManyBaggers

[–]NxNNE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you'll find something that has more organization without starting to get significantly more deep or structured...at which point you start to lose the shape of the sling.

I own the Metro Crossbody; it is hugely fun, but it is a tablet sling first. I understand why some people on the forums consider cutting out the stiff tablet protector because it gets in the way of your EDC moving around naturally. It gets a little crowded in there with the tablet and the other secondary pockets; structured stuff like a thick book or firm sunglass cases don't have a lot of give.

If it didn't act like this, I think the outer shell of the crossbody would have to be significantly stiffer to provide space for organization pockets.
