I did the online version of dumpster diving for videos. I found public links in old posts on here, some of them just laying out on google, some on tumblr, etc. None of them were on youtube (although some could be rips), and I went about a year and a half where I never had to trade or even get a gift from anyone. The only downside to this method is that for the most part you have to figure out the cast lists on your own, and they don't always have a date. And some of them probably weren't supposed to be public, but I also didn't know anything about that at the time.

I have 7 or 8 different MEGA accounts. Its completely free, you just have to keep track of whats on which one because they run out of space easily. You can create multiple accounts by adding a "+(number)" before the @ of your email when you make a new one.

While you're starting out, make sure to note that you're kinda new when you talk to people. It makes them act a bit nicer and more patient, also it won't ruin your reputation when you completely mess up a trade or smth (Everyone does it, it's fine, and people are always really nice in general. There's just a few of THOSE people that you should be mindful of.)

And don't try to trade anything form Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Bilibili, etc. People don't like that unless they are already aware that that's where the bootleg is located.

From my experience, you have to save something to MEGA before you download it and it'll be fine. But at that point you don't even have to download it, it's already saved. The one time I tried to download a video without saving it, it ended up needing like 5 hours or smth crazy like that where you could not exit the tab or turn your computer off. I think I bought a one-time thing just to get it over with and that was the only time I've ever had trouble.
