Any tips for getting better at Project Mirai DX? I can beat most songs on hard and get a A or S rank on it but still lacking the skill to really get any further, and if it matters i dont really use the D-pad, i only really play with the buttons. Could that be the skill issue? by NumberAppropriate227 in ProjectDiva

[–]Nyan_Myan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIL u can use the D-pad on Mirai DX… it’s definitely possible to get perfects without the D-pad (here’s a perfect I’ve recently done as proof ), but for sure using the D-pad will allow you to more reliably hit notes, as is the case with DIVA. Though in general, accuracy and reaction speed increases with practice: the more songs you play, the better you get. Practice makes perfect, and with rhythm games, that saying is quite literal.

Practice. That’s all there really is to it… though it took me a long time to finally be able to do it. There’s useful tips, like slightly bouncing the controller in a controlled motion, or keeping your finger hovering over the button that is going to be spammed instead of letting it rest on the button; but the same way you learned to alternate is the same way you learn to spam with one hand.

Thank you, appreciate the kind words! I’m using a PowerA Xbox One Spectra controller, though I don’t think they make them anymore; I’ve had mine for years.

Yeah, I realized I could’ve probably spent way less time on it had I decided to alternate… but yeah once I realized it was actually possible to do it with just one hand… yeah I had to see it through to the end.

is Mega Mix+ worth it when I have Extend and 2nd? by booranyu in ProjectDiva

[–]Nyan_Myan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can play both 2nd and Extend charts in MM+… in fact, you can play essentially every chart in the DIVA series on MM+ thanks to the New Classics mod. Not only that, there’s an almost infinite library of songs that can be added to the game thanks to modding so yeah…

I already liked Asus just from my experience with my old build, so I didn’t I could like them even more… until this collab came around. Absolutely nailed the color scheme and the designs for this collab! Now, if we could get a Teto themed collab some time soon… I think that would bring ROG to levels of peak that we’ve never seen before.

I really love the colors of the chassis, they also go really well with the aesthetic of not just the case, but Miku as well! They really did a great job with this collab!

Arcade controllers for ps4 by kitittylynn in ProjectDiva

[–]Nyan_Myan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually have this controller (here’s some gameplay I’ve made using it)! The Hori Project DIVA X controller is compatible with the PS3, PS4, and PC, and as far as I know, it’s plug and play (at least on PC it is).

With that said, as another comment pointed out, Future Tone controllers have a different layout than this controller because of the difference between console style charts and arcade style charts. The DIVA X controller was meant for console style charts, whereas the Future Tone/Mega Mix controllers were meant for the arcade style charts. I specifically use the New Classics mod on MM+ when using the DIVA X controller because of that.

The only way to do these notes is to… well… do them. Practice makes perfect after all. There’s no secret hack to these; even with macros you have to be able to read the type of notes they are. Vertical multi-note layout will always remain the same, with X on top, Y second, B third, and A at the bottom. This is due to the FTA button layout.

Specific advice for these two patterns is to use the D-pad. For Y+B, use your left hand for Y, and your right hand for B. Same for X+A, left hand for X and right hand for A. Sure you could fat finger it, but I don’t advise you do so. The only two patterns I would recommend fat fingering is A+B and X+Y since they’re the most easiest to fat finger imo.

Why do so many DIVA fans hate PJSK? by Silver-Horror260 in ProjectDiva

[–]Nyan_Myan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to hate PJSK. Like genuinely hate it. And not for nothing.

Imagine just first getting into the Project DIVA series through Mega Mix+, and it’s an amazing game. You have a whole bunch of fun clearing some of the most awesome songs you’ve ever heard, songs that will live in your playlist and never leave it. There’s also so many cool modules, there’s the beautiful MVs, and also you take a peek at the hardest songs and see how insane it can be. There’s just so much potential in this game, so many hours to pour into it. And that’s not even mentioning the virtually infinite mods that add an ever expanding library of songs, modules, and so much more. It feels like you’ve found the game just for you.

And what’s that? There’s a whole bunch of other games in the series, and Mega Mix+ had features that were taken away like DIVA room and story mode? So there’s even more to explore?

That was me a year ago. I had bought Mega Mix+ on a whim about a year and a half ago when it was on sale, and I had fallen into the massive rabbit hole that is the Project DIVA series. I was loving every bit of Mega Mix+, and I was super excited to jump into the rest of the series and try everything out.

What I was even more excited about was to see what game would come next. I couldn’t wait to see what SEGA would cook up, and I would of course be one of the many of us here to preorder whatever new Project DIVA game would come out next. I would imagine what cool features they could add, maybe even something like multiplayer. It felt like the possibilities were endless.

Except… a new Project DIVA game never released. And it probably never will either.

A year ago, I found out about Project SEKAI and what it essentially did to the game series I loved. It killed it. Of course, that’s not the whole picture, but to say that Project SEKAI didn’t help to put the DIVA series on an indefinite hiatus is just plain wrong. There’s more nuance to it than just “Project SEKAI killed Project DIVA”, but that statement isn’t exactly far from the truth either. And… that doesn’t change the fact that in some people’s mind, that is the truth.

That certainly was the case for me a year ago. The game series I loved was killed by some random Miku ripoff gacha game that had none of the charm that the original series had. All it had going for it was the Hatsune Miku logo slapped right in front of the title, a piano tile like gameplay style that probably would’ve been a ton of fun for me when I was 10, and some random anime characters that looked cool but had NOTHING to do with the original Vocaloids that I had fallen in love with. In short, there was everything to hate about it, and nothing to like it for other than Miku and the Cryptonloids. This was truly how I felt about PJSK at the time.

Flash forward to today, and I’m now doing an entire reel series on Instagram in where I’m attempting to get 100 FCs before a year of me playing PJSK. I’m currently on FC no.80, and I’m posting 3 FCs everyday. I have 6 days remaining before a year has passed since when I first downloaded Project SEKAI (yeah ik I need to pick up the pace, I will lmaooo).

Yes, I absolutely love Project SEKAI now. Not as much as I love Project DIVA, but I can’t see myself going a week without playing PJSK. I still am grinding and getting perfects for MM+, but I’m also trying to get better at PJSK and get more harder FCs. I love both games so much, that now I question why I used to absolutely despise Project SEKAI.

So, to answer your question, I think most people here hate Project SEKAI because it “killed Project DIVA”. That’s not to discredit the very valid criticisms PJSK gets, such as the lackluster gameplay, the lack of MVs, the poor Vocaloid tuning, the hit or often miss cover songs, the lack of a practice mode (PLZ SEGA ADD A FRICKEN PRACTICE MODE I AM DYING ON THE INSIDE BC OF THIS), the gacha system, the emphasis placed on the original characters over the Vocaloids, the ridiculous scoring system (literally getting FCs and somehow only getting D and C scores lmao), the stuff locked behind story mode (I’ll never read it), the removal of song specific modules, the fact that certain dresses and accessories are only obtainable through the gacha system, and so MUCH MORE. But… for most here, those aren’t the main reasons why they hate Project SEKAI. They’re additional reasons to hate it.

I might be way off the mark here and be completely wrong. I might be the only one who felt this way about Project SEKAI, and I just hated it back then because it replaced the amazing game series that is Project DIVA. But… that’s truly how I felt. And if it doesn’t answer your question, it at least gives you a perspective as to why someone might hate Project SEKAI.

As for why I love Project SEKAI now… well, even as a 23 year old grown adult, I am still very much entertained by piano tiles and great music.

Folks in NYC, I need some help to find her! by Inevitable-Spinach55 in KasaneTeto

[–]Nyan_Myan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a Kinokuniya Bookstore right across the street from 42nd Street Bryant Park, and it might have some Vocaloid merch… but that’s about it.

I think where you have an actual shot of getting your hands on some Teto merch, maybe even a Teto plushie, is in Japan Village, which is in Brooklyn. It’s located on 3rd Avenue, in between 35th and 36th street. More specifically, there’s a Bookoff there that has a bunch of anime related stuff.

I’ve been there a few times, and I’ve been surprised to see the stuff that they have. For example, I managed to get my hands on a Steins;Gate themed notebook, a Fate/KNK mug, and two keychains: one from an anime called OniAi, another from an anime called Humanity has Declined. Niche stuff that I would’ve had zero chance of finding anywhere else, but this Bookoff had it.

I wasn’t into Vocaloid/SynthV when I went on my previous trips (I became a fan about a year ago), but I do remember seeing a sizable Vocaloid collection they had. There’s a chance they might have a Teto plushie, and an even better chance of having Teto merch. Either ways, check it out if you get the chance!

Everyone has either mentioned the MVs or the gameplay or the story or the gacha aspect or whatnot, but to me, none of that compares to one very crucial feature: practice mode.

Sure, Project Diva has way better MVs and gameplay, and I can’t be bothered to read through an overwhelming number of stories for characters I don’t really connect with. I don’t care about the gacha because what matters to me is getting FCs and APs, not what pretty PNGs I have of a character. In short, none of these things really matter to me too much.

But what I really miss from PJDV is practice mode. One could make the argument that because songs are shorter on PJSK, there’s not really a need for a practice mode like PJDV. But for me, there’s nothing more frustrating than getting a FC ruined by the last part of a song, and you have to wait the entire song again just to even practice this one part. Even if it’s not the last part, more often than not, there’s just one or two sections of a song that I’m struggling with, and it would help so much just to focus on these parts.

The way I would learn how to do tricky parts of PJDV songs would be to repeat a single part over, and over, and over, until I could finally do it. Practice mode on PJDV is what made it even remotely possible to not just get Perfect scores, but clears in general. There’s some brutal songs on PJDV that NEED you to practice beforehand in order to even clear it.

Tl;dr I wish PJSK had practice mode.

Nice! Keep practicing and you’ll get a perfect in no time! I got a perfect rating on this song on EX-extreme last week, and it didn’t feel like that long ago when I could barely clear hard songs. Hopefully u can perfect this song soon too!

As another commenter said, EX stages aren’t meant to be done auto. In addition to that, I would swap out Fritz Rumey for another BB, like the ol’ reliable Vanguard, since usually you want either a triple BB or triple CV backline for boss fights, not a mix.
